To all Iwhen?, t may concern Be it known that l, tfnonon Tonino, a citizen oi' the United States7 and a resident of Mass City, in the county ot Untonagan and State oi' lidichigan, have invented certain new and useful llniproiienients in Gate- Latches, of which the iolloiiiing is a specification, reference being had to the accoiiipanying` drawings.

This invention relates to improvements in sliding gate latches.

The object oi iny invention is to provide an iniiviroved construction and arrangement oi'.E latching niechanisn'i, whereby the gato is automatically fastened when closed and inay be locker, said fasteniiig inei'chaiiisin having means whereby the saine inay be readily released and the gate slid bach to an open posi tion.

The ends oi? the loops are disposed over the lugs 19 and arranged at times to contact with the saine, the outer one of which supports and holds the latch in position to engage its lrccper., while the inner lug serves as a stop to liinit the opening movement oit the latch.

By constructiiig a gate latch as herein shown and described., the accumulation o' snow will. not. interfere with. the opening and closing et the saine.

The gate latch is simple, strong, dui-able and inexpensive in construction. etlicient and reliable in operation and can be iorined in any desired size ior a large terni gate or a sinall yard gate.
