TAKE-DOWN COOK-RANGE.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE N. Fnnznn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Eugene, in the county of Lane and State of Oregon, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Take Down Cools Ranges, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention relates to a cook range, and my object is to provide a cook range which may be separated into parts adapting it to be made into a compact form for more convenient transportation, and a further object of my invention is to provide an improvement upon a similar type of cook range described and claimed in my Patent Number 1,062,450, granted May 20, 191-3.

In the accompanying drawings which illustrate my present improvements, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the stove erected in operative position, with the oven and stove doors and the top plate removed. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the range top removed, Fig. 3 is a similar view of the oven bottom removed, Fig. 4 is a similar view of the fire box end of the range removed, Fig. 5 is another similar view of the flue end of the range removed, and Fig. 6 is a central longitudinal section through the assembled parts shown in Fig. 1.

Referring now to these figures, the two end sections, one being the fire box section A, and the other the flue section B shown in Figs. 4 and 5 respectively, are adapted to be connected by upper and lower sections C and D respectively, shown in Figs. 2 and 3, so as to form a complete range structure with the exception of a back plate, top plate and the oven, and stove doors which have been omitted in order that the range structure may more clearly appear.

The fire box section A is of substantially increased width with respect to the flue sec tion B and is provided in its front wall with openings a and a respectively, communicat ing with the fire pot and the ash pit, its outer side being entirely closed by a wall a and its inner side being provided with a plate a the upper and lower edges of which are terminated some distance from the upper and lower edges of the section in a manner sub stantially similar to the inner plate 6 of the flue section B, most clearly shown in Fig. 5, the outer side of this fine section being closed by an outer wall Z). provided with legs a and b and the flue section B is further provided with a vertical flue Z1 the lower end of which opens inwardly below the lower edge of its inner plate 5 and at the upper end of which is arranged a damper I).

The upper range section C as particularly shown in Fig. 2, consists of a base a and front and rear walls 0 and 0 respectively, the base 0 being provided with depending end lips c which are adapted for engagement over the upper edges of the inner walls a and b of the fire box and flue sections, so as to interlock the upper range section 0 between the upper portions of the fire box and flue sections A and B, as shown in Fig. l, the ends of the front and rear walls 0' and c of the upper *ange section 0 which projectbeyo-nd the lips c of its base extending against the inner surfaces of the front and rear walls of the fire box and flue sections, as will be seen. The lower section or oven base D is adapted to connect the lower portions of the fire box and flue sections A and B and to form the base of the oven, of which the inner plates a and 5 form the side walls and the base 0 of the upper sec tion C forms the top. To this end section D consists of top and bottom walls (Z, front and rear walls d and end walls (Z and (Z of which the later end (Z is provided with openings upon opposite sides of intermediate vertical walls cl so as to establish communication between the interior of the lower range section D and the spaces within the flue section 13 upon opposite sides of its flue b The end wall (Z is also provided with an opening communicating between the said intermediate vertical walls (Z so as to establish communication with the flue Z2 it being seen that these vertical walls 6Z thus form a continuation of the flue and extend for only a portion of the length of the section D. The end walls (Z and (Z are extended above the top wall (Z of the section in order to provide lips (Z which extend upwardly beneath the lower edges of the inner plates (2 and b, the front and rear walls (Z being extended beyond the end walls in order to project within sections A and B and the parts in engaged position. Thus with the sections assembled, as shown in Fig. 1, and damper (Z in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the products of combustion from the fire pot of section A will pass across the upper range section C and downwardly through the flue section B upon opposite sides of the flue b and it will be necessary for these gases to pass into and partly through the lower range section D before they find their way into the extension of flue 6 in order to subsequently pass upward through the same. With the damper 6* turned to horizontal position, the lower portion of the flue will be closed and the draft thus directed out through the upper portion thereof.

The basis of the fire box and flue sections A and B are provided with cleats a and b respectively, these cleats being adapted to be extended beneath the lower range section D when the several sections are assembled in order to cooperate with the upper and lower range sections eflectively and rigidly lock the range parts or sections in operative position. Thus, it will be seen that I provide a range in four sections, which may be readily and quickly assembled and taken apart, and, when free from one another, may be conveniently stored in a minimum space, or packed together or separately, as desired.

I claim:

1. A take down range comprising a fire box section having an outer closed wall and an inner plate, the upper and lower edges of which terminate respectively below and above the upper and lower ends of the section, a flue section opposite to and facing the fire box section, having an outer closed wall and a central vertical flue and provided with an inner wall, the upper and lower edges of which terminate respectively below and above the upper and lower ends of the section, and intermediate upper and lower sections having end lips for engagement with the respective edges of the inner plates of the fire box and flue sections, and having extended front and rear walls projecting into the fire box and flue sections, said upper intermediate section being open at its top and the lower intermediate section having a top plate and being open at one end into the flue section and provided with inner vertical walls extending for a portion of its length and forming a continuation of the central flue of the flue section, all for the purpose described.

2. A take down cook range comprising a fire box section and a flue section forming opposite ends of the range, and upper and lower intermediate sections for spacing and connecting said fire box and flue sections whereby to form the oven, the said fire box and flue sections being provided with inner plates forming the side walls of the oven and the intermediate sections having lips whereby to lockingly engage the upper and lower edges of the said inner plates and support the several sections in assembled position.
