Description

R. ZAHN.
AUTOMATIE? SHUTTLE EMBROIDERING MACHINE.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 1-, 1912.

UNITED sTArEs PATENT ()FFICE.
ROBERT ZAHN, 0F PLAUEN, GERMANY.
AUTOMATIC SHUTTLE EMBROIDERlNG-MACHINE.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ROBERT ZAHN, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Plauen, Kingdom of Saxony, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Shuttle Embroidering- Machines, of which the following is a specification.
During the operation of a shuttle embroidering machine it is frequently necessary to change the various sets of embroidering implements to those for boring or to the stiipfel. It is then not only necessary to entirely stop one set of implements and set into operation the other set, but it is also desirable to put certain implements into a certain rest position to the advantage of the working of those implements which are set into operation. This, for instance, is the case with the shuttles during the boring operation. As well known, in such a case the shuttles must be so adjusted as not to obstruct the bore holes.
My invention relates to means whereby without stopping any part of the machine the roller of the motion transmitting lever can be easily and rapidly displaced from the main shuttle operating cam onto a separate circular disk whereby the shuttles can be brought to a standstill at a predetermined point during operations other than stitching operation.
To make my invention more clear one embodiment of my invention is more or less diagrammatically illustrated by Way of example in the accompanying drawing in which similar reference letters denote corresponding parts and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a shuttle embroidering machine and Fig. 2 a front view of a detail.
With reference to the drawing 1 denotes the main shaft of the embroidering machine Specification of Letters Patent.

on which the shuttle operating cam 2 and an auxiliary circular disk 3 are fixed, the cam and disk being so arranged relative to one another and the shaft 1 that parts of their peripheries, as between the points a and Z), coincide with one another. The roller 4 is slidably mounted on a pin 5 carried by one arm of a bell. crank lever 5, the other arm of which is connected by means of a rod 6 to the shuttle guide 7. The acquard mechanism is indicated by a box 8 and operates, in well known manner, a rod 9 which is pivoted to one arm of a bell crank lever 10. The other arm of the latter is connected by a rod 11 to one arm of a bell crank lever 12 the other arm 12 of which is bifurcated and constantly engages the roller 4.
hen by the jacquard mechanism the rod 9 is drawn downwardly the lever 12 engaging the roller 41- shifts the latter from the cam 2 onto the cam disk 3. All parts are so arranged that the displacement of the roller l from one disk onto the other takes place when the coinciding peripheral portion a?: of the disks are opposite the roller.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In an automatic embroidering machine, the combination with a shuttle driving cam, a circular disk arranged coaxially with said cam so that a part of its periphery coincides with that of the cam, and an adjustable jacquard controlled roller adapted to cooperate with said cam during stitching operation and to be shifted on to the circular disk to bring the shuttles to a standstill at a prede termined point during other operations.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
