IMPRVEMENT IN SHOES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all persons to whom ,thesepresonrs may como:
' Be ,it known that I, FRAN-ors Gunner, of Newburyport, of the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Shoes; and do hereby declare'tthe `same to be fully described in the following specilication and represented in the accompanying drawing, of which- Figure 1 is a top View, and
Figure 2 a side elevation of acroquet slipper 01' shoe as made or provided with my invention.
-In carrying out my invention I form or construct the ankle-tie of the` shoe elastic, or with an elastic baud or piece of webbing fixed ltherein and making part thereof; and furthermore, I combine with such adjusting to the leg.
1t saves the necessity of strings, clasps, buckles, or
buttons for holding the parts of the tie together, insures a good tit of the tie to the ankle, and enables it to be worn with more comfort than would be the case were the tie inelastic.
In the drawing- A denotes the shoe, and
B B, the two straps of the ankle-tie, they being formed 8f the leather or material of the vamp.
'lhey are connected at their ends by the elastic web C, provided with the covering-rosette or bow D, applied to such at its middle, the Whole being as represented.
Iclaim as a new or improved manufacture, and my invention- A shoe, having an elastic ankle-tie made as described, and a covering-rosette or bow `applied to the rmiddle of the elastic part of the tie, all as set forth.
