By placing the wires in the slot it is also insured that the wires will not become twisted in attaching the hiokey and fixture connection to the support connection. The two shoul ders are vitally.in'iportant features of construction in that they prevent the possibility of either connection being turned into the hickey far enough to injure the Wires under any condition of use.

In the form illustrated in Fig. 4, the body is provided with twohu-bs, each of which is provided with a male thread 21. In this form the slot extends entirely through the upper hub and well down into the body of the hickey, as in the other form. ,-The support connection, indicated by 22, is provided with a female thread 23 which is engaged by the male thread of the upper hub and the fixture connection indicated by 26 is provided with a female thread 27 which is engaged by the male thread of the lower hub.

It is of course not essential that the ends of the 'connections engage the shoulders in either of the forms. They will not of course engage if the connections are shorter than the threads of the hickey. By providing the shoulders however I insure that if the threaded ends of the Connections happen to be longer than thethreads of the hiekey the movement of the connections. in engaging the hiekey will be stopped by the shoulders and no possible injury can result to the VVUeS.

In the form illustrated in Fig. 5, the upper end of the body is provided with a hub having a male thread 21 and the lower end is provided with a female thread 20. The

support connection is provided with a female thread 23 as in Fig. 4 and the fixture connection with a male thread 30 as in Fig. 3. The upper end is provided with an external upper shoulder 24 and the lower end with an internal lower" should'er 18. The slot. ex-

tends down well past the upper shoulder as in the other forms.-

The form illustrated in Fig. G is the reverse of that in Fig. 5. The upper end of the body is provided with a female thread 2O and the lower end with a hub having a male thread 2l'. Inthis'forni, the support connection is provided with aimale thread 29 as in Fig. 3-and the fixture connection with a female thread 27 as in Fig. 4. The upper end of the bod is provided with an internal upper shoul er 17 and the lower end with an external lower shoulder 25. The slot extends well down below the upper shoulder as in the other forms.

Having thus described my invention l claim v A hiekey comprising a tubular body p rn- I vided with a central longitudinal opening therethrough and having female threads at each end, shoulders at the termination of said threads, for the pur ose set forth and a longitudinal slot exten ing from one end to a point between the shoulders.
