Letters Patent No. 109,216, dated November 15, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICAL CQMPOUNDS FOR CURE OF RHEUMATISM.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
T 0 all whom "it concerns Be it known that I, ANDREW. J, JENKINS, of Virginia City, county of Storey, State of Nevada, have invented a'new MedicelOompound for the Cure of Rheumatism and other similar complaints; and I do hereby declare that the following is a, correct statement of the names of the ingredients, and the queue tities of each, which I use in its preparation, together with directions for mixing,compounding, and using the same.
I call my medical compound the King of Rheumm tism.
To make my medical compound I use, of wine of colohieum, two (2) ounces; sirup of rnspberr wone and one-half (1%) ounce; iodide of potassium, one-half (9;) ounce; morphine, eight (8) grains.
These ingredients are mixed together in the proportions specified',-a-nd a decoction made as follows added to it, to wit:
I take pieces or a part of the caster-wart from the inside ofthe leg of a horse, about the size of a filbert,
and place it in water, This is then boiled down until a strong dccoetion results.
Of this deeoction I take one-helf dram and add to it British oil, one-half (1}) dram. This is then added to the former compound, and the mixture placed in bottles for use.
A teaspooni'ul of this medicine should be taken internally three times a day in a tumbler of water.
Although simple in its combination, the medicine has been found to be very effective in the cure of rheumatism and similar affections.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim is- The medicine above described, composed of the ingredients enumerated in about the proportions specitied, mixed and compounded as above set forth.
