This 'invention relates to a combined spark plug and pump connection which is used in connection with oneof the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. 4.

An arm 32 extends from the collar, and the lever 32 is pivotally connected with the arm so that the turning of the arm will be greatly facilitated.
An insulating stick 33 is placed in the opening 20 and is provided with an enlarged shoulder 33 which rests upon the shoulder 21. A collar 34 is threaded into the upper portion 19 of the neck 18 and fits against the upper tace ot the shoulder-33 so that the insulating member is tightly held in place. 'A threaded stem 35 passes throughthe insulating stick and is threaded through the central portion 36 ot the base 13. "his stem forms one pole ot the spark plug, the second pole 37 being carried by the neck 14. A An arm 38 is mounted stem and has its free end resting upon the valve 39 ot the cock 2&1 so that a short circuit will be formed through the spark plug when pumping. Clamping nuts 40 are screwed upon one end of the stem 35 so that this arm 38 may be held in lace.
`When thev engine is in operation, the collar 22 is turned so that the openings 26 are out ot alinement with the openings 31, and the valve 89 is turned so that all communication is cut oit with the outer air. The device will then operate as an ordinary spark plug and cxplodes'the gas in 'the cylinder so that the cylinder assists the remaining cylinders to rotate the crank shaft. 1When it is desired to in'tlate a tire, the collar is turned to the position shown n Figs. 1 and 2, and the valve 39 ot'rthe cock 24 turns so that a clear passage is -formed through the cock. The tube 29 is connected with the cock and with the valve of the tire, and the engine is then started. The cylinders 11 and 12 rotate the crank shaft and the crank shaft reciprocates the piston of lthe cylinder 10 so that the piston upon a' downward stroke causes a suction through the openings 31, 16, and 15, into the cylinder. Upon the return stroke the airy passies through the 'pocket 23 and out through the cock 24: into thetube 29 through which it passes into the tire. It is, of course, obvious that 'when the piston is upon the downward stroke that it takes less Leffort to suck air through the spark plug than to suck through' the valve controlling the, carbureter and, therefore,

Thereiore, the gas from the carbureter does not enter the cylinder and it is, therefore, obvious that It is also obvious that when air is forced into the spark plug by the piston, that the force ot air drives the ball ings 26 thus closing ing the remaining portion of air to pass into the tube 29 and from thence into the tire. After the tire has been pumped up the collar is turned to bring the openings 26 out ot' alinement with the openings 31, and the valve 39 turned to a closed position and the suction will then be through the carbureter, and the spark plug act as an ordinary spark plug to explode these gases. A spark plug of the character described comprising a body portion provided with a vertically extending opening and with openings leading from its upper tace and communicating with the vertically extending opening, a pole insulated in the vertically extending opening, a chambered controlling collar adjustably mounted upon said body portion and provided with inlet openings leading from its chamber, valves carried in the openings of said collar, an outlet cock leading from the chamber of said collar, perforated clamping nuts mounted upon said body portion to hold said collar upon said body portion, the turning of said collar bringing its openings into and out ot registry with the openings of Said nuts, and. an arm leading from said pole to said outlet cock. z
