which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a safety razor, al object of the invention is to provide a* evice' of the class described which is simple,rdurable and inexpensive in construction, with improved means for releasably securing and holding a blade having two cutting edges, with the object both of cheapenin the cost of manufacture and facilitating the operation of taking the device apart and assembling rthe several parts for cleaning and other purposes.
For the attainment of these ends and the accomplishment of other new and useful objects, as will appear, the invention consists in the features of novelty in the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts shown generally in the accompanying drawing and described in the specication, but more particularly pointed out in the ap ended claims.

-Referring now more particularly to the drawing and in the present exempliication of the invention, the razor comprises a handle'member 8, a holder 9 releasably secured thereto, and a double edged blade 10. preferably comprises a tubular member with a lmurled portion 11 andl a threaded tip 12 at one end reduced in section formin a shoulder 13. The
holder 9 is prefera ly of resilient or spring metal andis substantially U-shape in for- `fic ef the holder to which the handle memoer is connected is preferably formed with Va flattened surface 14 against which the shoulder 13 of the handle member is` adaptably of the same size as the-cross section of the said shoulder,l so that the holder and the handle present a smooth neat appearance at the point where v*they abut. The flattened portion is preferably flush with the lower edge of the-freund `portion of the holder and it will beevidentthat this will necessitate a slightlyjronnded projection at the sides thereof, as "shown-incre clearly in Fig. 1. The perforation-in the holder is formed by punching or pressing the material inwardly and forming a bur on the inside of the holder which 4may also be threaded at the Sametime the perforation 1s threaded to form additional threaded surface for engaging `the threaded tip 12 of the handle member. The threads formed in the metal of the holder are sufficient to engage the threaded-tip of the handle mem- The extremities of the holder 9 are preferably formed with the tines or teeth 15,`
which are bent over at the ends in opposite dlrections to form a guard for theblade. The holder 9 is preferably of substantially ,the same length or slightly longer than the blade to be used, and each of the extremities of the vholder is provided at the opposite ends with projections 16. lntermediate of the extremities of the holder and the rounded end thereof the holder is preferably formed with an inward bend as at 17, so
that the projections 16 in the opposite extremities are inclined slightly outward in direction from each other. The bent over portions at the ends of the extremities which form the guard are preferably rounded outwardly at the ends, the tops thereof, however, being disposed in substantially the same plane, with the projections 16 extending slightly above the plane.
flhe blade in its preferred form comiprises a double edged piece of material sub-l stantially the same length as the holder 9 and substantially rectangularin form with the rounded ends- 18. This blade member is formed at the ends with recesses 19, preferably provided with the square corners 20 which are adapted to be engaged by the projections 16 of the holder. These recesses 19 are of'such a depth that the blade when in position at the end of the holder and when engaged by the projections 16 thereof will be positively held endwise movement with respect to the 11o A and prevented Ifrom an holder. The holder being constructed of flexible or spring material is pressed in position to engage the blade by gripping the holder at the bent portion's 17 and compressing the holder slightly so that the blade 10 may be inserted over the projections 16. Upon releasing the holder the resilience of the material of which it is constructed is suiiicient to cause the projections 16 to grip the blade in the recesses 19 and hold it rmly in position with the edges of the 'blade disposed over the tines or teeth which form the guard. I It is manifest that in order to remove the blade for cleaning or other purposes it is necessary only to compress the holder, whereupon the blade is released .from its engagement with the projections 16 and ma be easily removed or dropped from the hol er. The bent portions 17 provide a convenient grippin an operator, wherey the blade may be easily removed 'and applied to the holder.
While I have thus described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is evident that those skilled in the arts to which this appertains may'make various changes in the construction, combination `and arrangement of the several parts vwithout departing from the spirit'I and scope of my invention.
What I claim is':
l. A safety razor comprising a holder substantially U-shaped in formation 'constructed of spring material, the extremities tending to spring apart and being of substantial width with a blade-holding projection on each end of each extremity, and a blade having a single recess at each end the sides of which are engaged by the projections as they spring outwardly.
2. A device of the class described comprising a holder forl a double-edged blade having a single recess in each end consisting of a U-shaped member of spring material having the edges of its outer extremities formed with teeth and blade-holding projections and the extremities tending' to spring apart'togrip the single recess in each end of the blade andthe 'said extremities being bent in opposite directions at the ends and rounded outwardly to form a substantially plane surface at the ends of the holder with the teeth bent slightly down- Ward therefrom.
3. In a device of the class described, a holder for'blades comprising a substantially U-shaped member formed of spring material with teeth at the edges of the extremities, the said extremities tending to sprin apart and being bent in opposlte dlrections to form a substantially plane surface at the ends of the holder, the said holder being Aalso provided with projections at the opposite ends of each of the extremities which extend outwardly therefrom and project beyond the plane surface formed by the teeth,

4. In a device of the class described, a holder constructed of spring material substantially U-shaped' in form with teeth in the edges at the extremities thereof, the sides beingbent inwardly to form a finger hold for said holder and tending to spring apart to dispose the extremities at diverging angles with respect to each other, projections at the edges of each extremity less in length than the teeth and the teeth of each extremity being bent in opposite directions to form a plane supporting surface at the end of the holder. with the extremities of the teeth rounded downwardly from said plane, the projections at the edges of said extremities being above the plane and inclined outwardly from each other.
5. In a device of the class described, the combination of a resilient U-shaped holder formedwith the extremities bent outwardly with respect to each other and having teeth and projections at the edges ofeach extremity, the teeth of the extremities being bent in opposite directions to form a plane supporting surface with the projections extending above the plane, and a blade with a single recess extending from each end adapted to' be engaged by the projections of the holder as the holder springs outwardly after being compressed.
6. In a device of the class described, the combination of a resilient U-shaped holder with projections at both ends of the extremities thereof, the extremities being in-4 clined outwardly with respect to each other and tending to spring apart, and a blade formed with a single recess extending fromk each'end having shoulders spaced apart and adapted to be engaged by the projections of the holder when the holder springs outwardly after being compressed, ywhereby the blade is releasably held at the end thereof.

A safety razor comprising a handle member formed with a threaded tip of reduced section with a shoigilder at the. base thereof, a spring holder substantially U- shaped with a threaded porforation in the rounded end to receive the tip of the handle member the sides of the holder being bent outwardly from each other and adapted to spring apart, the extremities being formed withl teeth and with projections at the edges of each extremity, the projections being less in height than the lengthjof the teeth and the teeth being bent in opposite dires` tions to form a plane surface with the extremities -of the teeth bent downwardlyy from said plane, the projections at the ends extendin above the plane formed by the bent teet anda double edged blade with a.
