Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 5, 1912.
Patented Mar. 10, 1914. Serial No. 729,671.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GAINrono GnrMns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lakeview, in the county of Lake, State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plow Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in plow attachments, and particularly to a riding attachment therefor.
The principal object is to provide a simple riding attachment for a plow which can be easily attached thereto.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and with particular reference to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a plow showing my invention ap plied, Fig. 2 is a plan view, Fig. 3 is a detail perspective View of the bolt 13, and Fig. a is a detail perspective view of one of the bars 22. F 5 is a section on line 55 of Fig. 3.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents the beam of the plow, to which is attached the usual standard 11 and shovel 12.
Secured to the front of the beam and em bracing the same is a U-bolt 13, the arms of which pass through the plate ll and have applied thereto the fastening nuts 15. The
portion of the bolt on the opposite side of the beamis provided with an eye 16 through which passes the reduced threaded end 17 of the brace beam forming a part of the riding attachment. On the upper face of the rear portion of the beam is mounted a block 18, said block being formed with a plurality of upstanding lugs 19, which are straddled by the fastening bolts 20. In the recesses 21 between the lugs are disposed the inner ends of the bars 22 of the riding attachment,
said bars being held by means of the U- bolts 23. The opposite ends of the bars 22 are threaded, and extend through openings in the rear end of the before-mentioned brace 17, the nuts 24: being applied to the ends of the bars. Extending outwardly from the said brace 17, between the ends of the bars 22 is a stub axle 24 on which is carried the ground engaging wheel 25, which supports the frame as will be apparent.
Mounted on the rear of the bars 22 and extending over the front bar 22 is a platform 26, a seat 27 being also mounted on the bars within the bifurcations 28 of the said platform.
By means of the lugs and the recesses of the block on the beam, the riding attachment can be moved forwardly or rearwardly on the beam as desired.
What is claimed is:
A riding attachment for a plow, including a recessed block mounted on the beam of the plow and provided with upstanding recessed lugs, attaching clips for the block disposed in the recesses of the lugs and embracing the beam, parallel bars each having one of its ends disposed in one of the re cesses of the block, heads on the bars engaging the block, clamping means engaging the beam of the plow and the bars for holding the bars in the recesses of the block and the block on the beam, a brace bar receiving the outer ends of the said parallel bars therethrough and supporting the same, a stub shaft carried by the rear end of said brace between the parallel bars and provided with a ground engaging wheel, a seat secured to the bars, and a platform pivotally carried by the rear one of the parallel bars and resting on the forward one of the bars.
In testimony wh reof, I affix my signa ture, in the presence of two witnesses.
