Be it known that I JUmUs J. Ifiiauic, a citizen 'of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and tion of the invention, such as will' enabe others skilled in the art to which it appertaiiis to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which forni Va part of this specification.
,My invention relates to an auxiliary steam enerator and more particularly to the portab e type of generators being adapted for temporary location in the tire box of a locomotive fora period of time necessary Ifor the quick generation of steam in the boiler of the engine, dispensing with the usual method of firing direct to the boiler, a' practice involving a muc'li greater duration of time.
A further object of my-inventionis to provide an auxiliary steam generator particularly ada ted for oil burnin locomotives i7fu'rnish steam for t ie blower anti the oil atomzer and that can be readily inserted in the tire box as an integral unit and be quickly detached from its connections and removed, being used as the occasion requires, for the uick steaming of cold boilers.
It is o vious that my auxiliary steam generator is adapted for use in connection with other than locomotive engines, and can be used to generate quick steam in an type of ut I have specified an oi burning ocomotive, knowin the diiliculties encountered and the long ime it takes in steaming up a cold boiler.
With this and 'other objects in view the invention consists in certain construe ions and in certain parts, improvements and c'ombinations, as will. be hereinafter described and specifically pointed out in the' claims hereunto appended.l

Referring more in detail tothe parts:- 1' designates the locomotive boiler, 2'the saddle 3 the latform 4 the cali, 5 the tender, and 0 the re box a apted to receive through the tiredoor 7, the auxiliary steam generator 8. The generator 8 preferably comprises a plurality of water-tubes arran ed in sets of two, designated 9-9f, 10-10A and 11-11, a su erheating tube 12 and a steam drum'l. bein yconnected at its lower end to tubeset 9 -9 byfa reducing coupling 12 and a spacial bushing 14,.tlie#npplc15, and the four way coupling 10. lThe tube sets 10-10 and 11-11f are adapted for connection one with theother by a three way cou ling 17 and the nipples 18 and 19, which ta, e into the three way couplings 20 and 21disposed on tubes IOIand A11. A threaded nipp e 22 joins the coupling -17 with the four way coupling 16. The upper end of tubes 9--9 10-10 and 11-11 are externally threaded nt 28 to receive the reducing fittings 24, the said titting having an enlarged lower end portion 25 interior y threads to engage the threadortions 28 of the tubes, and having diminished opposite end portions 2T provided with openings arranged with screw threads to' engage. the lowerit-hreaded ends 28 of the reducing 1pipes 29 which extend upwardly and' para e to the saper-heating `tube.12, being connected with the drum 18 which is space d from the said superheating tube and positioned at the rear and adjacent the tcp portion thereof.
