To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, O'r'ro Jonnsou and New RUNnoRnN, citizens of the United States, residing at Oak Park, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to bottles and more particularly to nonrefillable bottles and has for an object to provide a bottle that can not be conveniently refilled after the original contents have once been withdrawn therefrom.
The invention further embodies a simple device that can be cheaply manufactured and which is applied to any ordinary form of bottle for the purpose of preventing the spurious refilling of the bottle,
In the further disclosure of the invention reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings constituting a part of this specification, in which similar characters of ref erence denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which:
Figure l is a fragmentary side elevation of the bottle, showing the same in an upright and closed position; Fig. 2 is a similar View showing the bottle tilted and in open position; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the bottle, as shown in Fig. 1; and F 1 is a perspective view looking at the under side of the combined spout and valve member.
Referring more particularly to the views, we disclose a bottle body 10 including an in tegral neck 11 provided with aplurality of annular ribs 12 providing an indentation 13 therebetween.
Seated on the upper end of the neck 11 is a combined spout and valve member 14L, consisting of a single body 15 having an upper cylindrical portion 16 and a lower reduced cylindrical portion 17, thus forming a seat 18 at the formation of the lower cylindrical portion 17 so that the combined spent and valve member 1-l can be applied to the bottle body so that the lower cylindrical portion 17 will depend within the neck of the bottle body.
The under side of the lower cylindrical portion 17 is inclined as shown, and is provided with an opening 19 normally closed by a cup shaped valve :20 mounted to swing on the under side of the lower cylindrical Specification of Letters Patent.

portion and adapted to gravitate into closed position when the bottle body is in an upright position. A portion of the upper cylindrical. portion 16 is indented to form a spout 21, the said spout being adapted to lie in the vertical plane of the valve 20, as shown.
A cap 22 is adapted to inc-lose the combined spout and valve member 141- aud has the lower edge thereof bent inwardly to lie in the indentation 13, thus retaining the cap on the neck of the bottle body while at the same time the cap can be readily revolved on the said neck. The cap is provided with a plurality of adjacent openings 23 which are adapted to aline with the spout 21, but which will be moved out of alinenient with the spout when the cap is rotated on the neck of the bottle body.
In the use of the device described the combined spout and valve member and cap are applied to the neck of the bottle after the same has been filled with the desired fluid. Now when the cap 22 has been rotated with respect to the combined spout and valve member the openings 23 will be out of alinement with the spout 21, thus resulting in the openings being closed by the wall of the upper cylindrical portion 16 so that after the bottle body is inverted no fluid can flow therefrom. Now when it is desired to use the bottle body the cap is rotated on the neck thereof until the openings 23 register with the spout ill and then by inverting the bottle body it will, be readily apparent that the valve 20 willv spring; into an open position so that the contents of the bottle body will flow through the neck and the opening 19, into the lower cylindrical portion 17, from which it will pass into the upper cylindrical portion 16 and thence flow from the spout 21 through the openings 23.
It will be understood that if desirable various washers or gaskets can be interposed between the upper edge of the neck of the bottle body and the upper cylindrical portion or also used in connection with the valve in order that the same will seat more properly when in closed position.
From the foregoingdescription it will be apparent that the device described is of a simple and durable construction and can be cheaply manufactured to accomplish the desired purpose.
The various parts of the device are preferably made of aluminum, although it will be understood that other metals, glass or porcelain can be employed.
Having thus described our invention, we claim:
In a nonrefillable bottle, the combination With a bottle body including a neck, of a member seated on the neck and having a reduced portion projecting into the neck, a valve carried on the said reduced portion and normally closingan opening to the interior of the bottle body, a spout formed integrally With a portion of the member above the neck by bending a side of the member inwardly, and an apertured cap revolubly supported on the neck and inclosing the said member, the said cap being movable to register'the apertures thereof with the said spout to permit of pouring fluid from the bottle body and movable to position the apertures out of register with the spout so that the inner Wall of the cap Will close the spout.
