To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WiLLIAM BogiHAU,
a citizen of the. United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Parachute-Kites, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a parachute kite or aerial toy.
' The object of the invention is to provide a novelcombination that shall include an inclined cord or wire, such as the string of a kite, up which a parachute or other toy device may travel, novel means to travel when ascending the cord or wire and support the toy device in its ascent, and a releasing d'evice revoluble on the cord or wire in proxa parachute,
imity to its high end to detach the traveler from the cord or wire and allow the parachute or other toy to go free in the air.

The numeral, 6, designates a cord or wire stretched in an inclined-position as it would be when the high end is attached to a kite and serving as the guide for an elevated kite, 7. Of course a cord or wire would have this inclined position were the high end of the cord or wire attached to a high building or a tower.

a metal shaft, 12, being a straight piece of wire having an eye, 13, formed at each of its ends; the stretched cord, 6, is cut a short distance from its high end, or from the kite, if a kite is being used (say about twenty feet from a kite) and the cut ends of the cord are tied .to the two eyes, 18, of the wire shaft, 12. Thus the wire shaft is in perfect alinement with thecord, and consti tutes a metal section of a fibrous cord. In practice a cord will sometimes twist up and then untwist which is objectionable because -thereleased' device revolves and to prevent twisting or turning of the metal wire shaft, 12, one endthereof is provided with an arm, 14, secured to one of the eyes, 13, and said arm hangs downward below the stretched cord and serves as a pendant weight which prevents the wire shaft, 12, from turning. The form or shape of the pendant weight arm, 14, may vary; in the present instance it is V-shaped, one end of the two prongs beinghooked into the eye, 18, of the wireshaft, 12, that is next to the upgrade part of the cord, and the end of the other prong hooked over the cord, 6,that part of the cord that is upgrade or nearest to the kite. The revoluble part of the releaser consists of two spiraled or'twisted wings or blades, 15, similar to a propeller, that are joined to a central sleeve, 16, that fits loosely on the wire-shaft, 12; the two wings and the sleeve turn on the shaft. That end of the sleeve" that is next to the downwardly-inclined part of the stretched cord, 6, is forked or has two tangs, 17 which are spaced apart sufficiently to turn freely around the eye, 13. This forked or tang end, 1.7, of the revoluble releaser knoc ks sidewise against the pin, 11," that projects forward from the approaching traveling hanger, 8, and the effect of this sidewise knock is to detach the notchshaped bend, 10, from the cord, 6, and there- 110 upon the hanger and parachute, 18, or whateverthehanger. may have been supporting,

Having thus described my'inverition what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The combination of an inclined stretched cord; a'nietal wire shaft in alinement with said cord and constituting a metal section of the cord; a weight arm,
14, hanging pendant from said metal sec-- tion; a. releaser device having spiraled blades and revoluble on the metal section; and a traveler having at its upper part a notch-shaped bendto take over the stretched cord, and below the cord said traveler hava releaser device revoluble on said wire shaft by the action of the wind.
3. The combination of an inclined stretched cord; ahanger having a notch-f' shaped bend to take over said stretched cord and the upper part, of said hanger havinga pin that dprojectsin a direction upgrade on said cor and below the cord said hanger having a pendant end for supporting articles; and the high end of the stretched cord provided with means to knock s'idewise against the said pin on the hanger and release the hanger from the cord.
