' ?OIS ON-B6TTLE INDICATOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Felo.10,1914.
Application filed Kay 3, 1911. Serial No. 6 24,880.
To all whom z't may concern:
Be it known that I," GUSTAVE O. MATTER,
a citizen oftho United States, and residing i at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Poison- Bottle Indicators, of whichthe following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in poison bottle indicators and has for its obect to provide an indicator which can be bottle.
cheaply made and easily attached to the neck of a bottle in such manner as to prevent the i use of the contents of the bottle without| properly Operating the indicator. 1 attain this object by means of the improvements illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure l is a front elevation of the indicator, showing it attached to the neck of a Fig; 2 is a side elevation. shows a top view-of the indicator detached from the bottle.
Like numerals of reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views.
in the drawings the indicator is shown to consist of an inverted U-shaped spring wire 1 having its ends 4 spirally formed and attached by soldering, or. other suitable means, to a spring band 3 which is fiatand circular in shape and adapted to engage the neck of the bottle 2. The ends of the band 3 may be joined if desired or the band may be cemented to the neck of the bottle 2.
In order to remove the-cork 5 after the indicator has been attached to the neck of the bottle 2 as shown in Fig. 1, the inverted U-shaped part 1 may be deflected to the po-v Fig. 3
when released will spring back into its pro-per position again.
It will now be seen that the contents of the bottle cannot be used by mistake, the indicator covering the cork automatically at all times except when purposely deflected. It is understood that slight changes may be made in the specific structure shown without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. A poison-bottle indicator comprising a circular band adapted to engage the neck of a bottle, and a U -sh-ape-il wire having ends spirally formed and attached to said circular band.
2. A poison-bottle indicator comprising an inverted U-shaped spring wire, and a circnlarly bent strip of fiat metal attached to and between the ends of said inverted U- shaped wire 1n such manner as to hold a porlion of said U-shaped wire over and in line ith the axis of said circularly bent strip of flat metal.
3. A poison-bottle indicator comprising an inverted U-shaped spring wire having its ends spirally formed, and means for attaching said endsto a bottle.
4. A poison-bottle indicator comprising a circular hand, and a U-shaped spring wire having its ends spiraly formed and attached to said circular band.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses;
GUSTAVE O. MATTER. lVitnesses: I
A. J. Manna, Aowns Burrs.
