CABBUBETER.
To all whom it may concern: I Be it lmown that I, PAUL GEHRMANN, a subject of the King of Saxony, residing at Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carburetors, of which the following is a specification.-
manner that the engine 'works without brations even when the vehicle runs at alow In flthe accompanying drawings the in vention is shown byway of example.
. Figure-1 is a vertical. section of the carbureter. Fig. 2 is a part horizontal section on the line A-.-B of the Fig. 1. y Y
The conduit a for'the main air is surrounded in the well known manner by the fuel reservoir 12 mounted upon. a circular flange 0 ofthe carbureter casing. The fuel reservoir b is closed at thetop by a lidd upon which a flat ringe is arranged which has a great number of airholes f. These air holes communicatewith recesses g in which. ball valves h arelocated. In the ring. e a tubular socket i is'mounted which has a throttle valve 70 of known construction. The tube 6 is screwed into the upper end of on the top' of the cover Z so that it holds'this g communicate with the tube '1' by means of air ports n. The ring e has vertical extensions at, one f0 each air port n, which bear against the outer surface of the tube These extensions are of the same width as the spaces between the ports a and serve the purpose of valves when ring 6 and cover Z are.
rotated to partially or wholly close ports 1.
In the vertical upper end of the air conduit a a cylindrical piece 0 is screwed which has an inner boring of double conical cross section. The spraying nozzle 7) is situated in said cylindrical piece 0. The nozzle is regulated by means of a pointed needle valve g. The cylindrical Piece 0 has a lateral flange'r which is per oratedb holes a the upper ends of which are close by ball I Specification of Letters Patent. Application iiled Febru y .17; 1913;
Serial No. 748,886.
' valves Above'fthe flange r an annular chamber t is formed. A'cover 'v projecting over the. upper end of said annular chamber Patented Feb. 3, 1914.
t serves for maintaining the balls in said chamber. r Y
The main air flows into the carbureter I through the conduit a in the direction of the This invention relates to a carbureter for motor-cars which is constructed in such a arrow it is throttled in the narrow part 'w of the boring'of the cylindrical piece 0 be- I fore it gets into the tubular-socket i which servesyas mixing chamber. Part of themain air passes through the holes 8 of the flange r and lifting the ball valves n flows through the annular chamber .t along the inner edge .'of the cover ring 0 into the mixing chamber The supplementary, air is admitted into the mixing chamber z through the holes fof the ring e said air liftin the ball valvesh ofi their seats. The per oratedring e and 'the ring shaped cover Z being rigidly con--- nected the one with the other, they can be turned around the mixing chamber i. where-' by the air inlets at aremore or less'cove'red by the extensions a: of said. ring 6.
I claim: Carbureter for motor cars comprising in combination with-gthe main air c'onduit,'the spraying nozzle, and the mixing chamber having air inlets 'for'the supplementary air,
a horizontal ring having a certainv number of perforations revolubly mounted upon said mixing chamber under said air inlets,
ball valves upon the upper ends of said perforations, vertical extensionsof said ring one for each air inlet of the mixing chamber, a ring shaped cover screwed upon said horizontal perforated ring and bearing with its inner end against the outer wall'of said mixing chamber above said air inlets, a cylindrical piece in the conduit'for the m'ain air surrounding the upper end of said sprayingnozzle and screwed into said air conduit, a perforated horizontal flange of said cylindrical piece and-ball valves upon the upper-ends of said perforations, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
PAUL GEHRMANN.

CLARE SIMON.
