As the gripper-l moves upwardly away from the lower cam the movable jaw is again permit-ted to close against the fixed jaw, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 2, loutduring vthe last part of .its upward movement the gripper 1s again operated upon by the upper cam for causing the gripper to first open and then close 'for gripping the next printed sheetl Accidental displacementv of .the gripper opening the trip finger is prevented by means of a guide eye r1 arranged on the rear arm of the gripper lever and receiving the main part 1'. of said finger, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5.
While the gripper is moving lback and forth from its upper to its lower position the head N moves through the outer slot g ot the curved part of the guideway and the connection 2'1' between the link i and the band F moves through the slot g1 in the upper way. p
During the operation of the machine the gripper always overhangs the front end of the type chase and ribbon roller in the foremost position of the bed. Ina'smuch as the' the lower straight part of the guide-- per out of the way to permit of the removal of the type and ribbon and the replacement of the same. For this purpose the Shank of the fixed gripper jaw' is pivoted von the head m and band F by the rivet n, so that the gripper as a whole can be turned laterally semental slot y in the O'ri per shank and a.. C 1 C nut s on the screw m'bearing against the upper side of said shank.
I claim as my invention:
1. A. sheet delivery mechanism comprising a guideway having a vertically curved part, a flexible sheet metal shifting member reciprocating lengthwise in the'guideway, and a gripper mounted on said shifting member and adapted to be reversed duringI its movement with said shifting member for Ireversing the sheet while the gripper holds the same.
2. A sheet delivery mechanism compris .ing a'guidewav having a .vertically 'curved part, a flexible sheet nietal sh'iftingmem her slidable lengthwise in the guideway,a gripper mounted on ,the front end of'said shift-ing membe and adapted to be reversed during its movement with said shiftingV member for reversing the sheet while held hy the gripper, and means for actuating said shifting member comprising a reciprocating element, and a link connecting said reciprocating Ielement with the rear end of the shifting member.
