To all whom t may concern.'
,Be it known that-'1, HARRY C. PERoY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Natchitoches, inthe parish of 'Natchitoches andA State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Resilient Wheel, of which the following is a specification.
A The invention relates to improvements in resilient wheels for automobiles and other vehicles.
The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of resilient wheels, and @to provide a simple, eiiioient and highly; resilient wheel of comparatively inexpensive construction, designed to dis# pense `with pneumatic tires, and equipped with cushioniiigsprings, adapted to absorb the shock, jars and4 vibrations resulting from irregularities in the road and other causes.
-' With these and other objects in view,'the
invention consists in the construction and novel combination of` parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims lhereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the"claims, may be resorted to' without departing `from the spirit orsacrificing any of the 4advantages of the1nven tion. v

In the accompanying drawings in which is illustratedthe preferred embodiment of the invention, the wheel is equipped with a hub l, preferably--infthe form 'of fa' rectangular slee-ve'provided with a vcentral opening 2 and having its terminals reduced to receive centrally arranged side plates 4.
Specification of Letters Patent.

The hub, which is adapted 'to be 'arranged` onthe spindle of an axle, may have its bearingY Portion constructed in any preferred manner, and the side plates 4i, which are circular, are provided with central openings 5,and the reduced ends of the hub are headed at the outer faces of the side plates to retain the same, in place against the shoulders formed by the reduction of the terminals of the hub, but any other suitable fastening means may ofcourse be employed. The hub, which is constructed of sui-table metal, has flat outer faces, and' it is connected with a metallic rim 6 by central and side springs.

Each ofthe central springs or spring spokes is composed of two similar side branches connected alt-.their inner ends by a straight portion 7, seated against` the adjacent flat exterior side face of the hub, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. Theside branches of the central springs lare curved outwardly from the corners of the l1 ub and converge and meet at a point beyondand in spaced relation with the hub to form an inner spring loop 8. The' side branches of the central springs are contiguous and lit against each other adjacent to the corners of the hub, and they are tied or secured together by means of coils 9 of Wire wrapped around the contiguous portions of the side branches ofthe springs and securely holding the same againstvthe hub. i

A resilient wheel including a hub, a rim, an annular series of springs,' each spring consisting of two side branches bent to form inner and intermediate loops and having reversely extended outer portions, said springs being also provided with outer arcuate portions ittedagainst the rim and connecting the reversely extended outer terminal portions of adjacent springs and the loops being arranged to mutually support one another.

A resilient wheel including a hub, a rim, an annular'series of central springs arranged in the medial plane of the wheel and extending from the hub to the rim, separate sets of side springs spaced from the 'central springs and located at the central portion of the wheel, each seated against .the hub and tting against one another, reversel extended outer portions, ,and peripherai7 connecting portions, and spokes connected at their inner ends with the side springs and extending therefrom to the rim.
