In the example oi' my invention which I have here shown.
The letter A designates the body of the stick, and
B the knee, whose limb C is in Contact with the vertical flange D of the stick.
The flange D, on its inner side, has a groove, E,
The clamp F is a block loosely fitted in the socket G, formed in that side of the limb C which is next to the flange D of the stick, and it is so formed as to slide loosely in the groove E, its upper edge corresponding in shape to the top of the groove, and the joint thus formed serves to hold the knee to the body of the stick, notwithstanding that the knee is free to slide back and forth therein.
In the top of the clamp is fixed one end of a screw which extends upward through the limb C of the knee, and above 1't where it' receives a thumb-nut, I, by means of which the clamp is operated, and the knee clampedat any desired position inthe stick.
The nut I bears on the knee, and when I desire to lock the knee at any point, Itnrn the nut and thereby draw theclamp against the upper edge of the groove E, and press the knee down npon the stick;
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The ange D of the stick A, formed with a groove,
E, its edge being of a dovetail form, arranged to operate in connection with the clamp F fitted 1n the vert'rcai screw I, substantially as set forth.
