LIGHT-SCREEN FOR FINDERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GUsTAv GEIGER, a subject of the King of Bavaria, residing at Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Light-Screens for Finders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention refers to a nder of a folding camera and more particularly to the construction of the light screen for this finder. The light screen for the finder is usually arranged so that it has to be lifted by hand," this does not only mean a certain loss of time but it is frequently the reason for the getting loose of the bord which carries the lens and upon which the finder is usually mounted. To obviate this inconvenience it has been proposed to use finders without light screen. Such finders howcver do not show the image very distinctly owing tothe reflections upon the surface of the lens.
According to this invention the light screen for the finder is mounted in such a manner that it is automatically lifted by a s ring as soon as the catch which maintains t e lightvscreen has been released.
The invention is shown in the accompanyin drawings by way of example.
igure 1 shows the finder with light` screen in perspective, the light screen being in lifted position.` Fig. 2 is a similar view as Fig. 1, the light screen being shown in lowered position.
The light screen a is pivotally mounted upon the nder plate b by means of an axle c upon which a. spring d is Wound so that its free'end e bears against the inner surface of the middle wall f of the light screen a. At the front end of the plate of the finder, a spring influenced catch g with hand lever k is arranged which is adapted to retain an arm z' which projects upwardly from the corresponding side wall of the light screen a when said light screen is lowered.
lVhen the light screen has to be lifted it is simply necessary to exert a slight pressure upon the hand lever i whereby'the front end of the catch is lifted and the arm z' released so that the light screen a is lifted through the action of the spring d.
I claim An improved light screen for the finder of a folding camera comprising in combination with the usual light screen an arm upwardly projecting from the outer side wall of said screen, an axle by means of which the light screen is pivotally mounted upon the finder, a spring upon said axle bearing with its upper 4free end against the inner surface of the middle wall of the light screen for maintaining thesame in verti' cal position, a spring influenced catch, pivotally mounted at the front end of the finder for retaining the said arm 'of vthe light screen in horizontal position and a handle of said catch, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
