To all-wheat it may concern.- 4
Be it known that we, AUGUSTUS GUILD 'and WIL- LIAM ff. Pinnen, bothof Middletown, in= tlxeceuety of Middlesex and- State of Connecticut, have invented f anew and improved Self-releasing Davit-Ring;'and
we do herehy'd'eclare that the followingv is a full and exact'descrfiption thereof, reference being .had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
'Ihiszinvention relates to that class Vof davit-rings structed ae to open automatically when the boat touches the water, and consists" incertain details of Figure l'represents a side elevation of my invern tion, and y l `Figure 2, a partial sectional view.
To enable others skilled in the art' toA make and use my invention, 1 will now proceed to describe fully its consinnotion and operation.
A represents the base o f the ring, which is pro- 'of securing it to the boat, andwith a central ring, a, having a projection, a', 'as is shown in iig. 2.
B B represent the two parts of theA ring, which arev identioal in construction. 'They are pivoted upon the sides of the central ring a, ofthe standard A, and are free to'all outward by their own weight, buttheir movement inward is limited by means of the projection a' of the ring a., which shuts against a shoulder of the parts when they are turned together, as is vshown in fig. 2. l
' To provide for locking the parts B B, and preventing them from opening, a pin, b, is employed, which istlzrust into a suitable orifice out partially in the standard and partially into the -lower portion of the parts B, as isindicated in the drawing. When the pin is in place, it will he perceived that it is impossi# .ble for thearms B B`to turn outward.
Theconstruction of the ring is simple, and it has no parts -liable toget out of order.
Having thus fully described our invention,
What we claim, and desire to secure by Letters`- Patent, is-
.Thedescribed riug, consisting of the base A, with ring a, having the 'projection a', and parts B -B, arranged as Iand for the purpose set forth.
