FRIEDRICH GEORG WANGELIN, OF DRESIDEN, GERMANY.
WATER-SUPPLY OR FLUSH TANK.
Application filed November 27, 1909.
To all whom 2'15 may concern:
Be it known that I, Fmnnmcn Gnons VVANGELIN, engineer, a subject of the King of Saxony, and resident of 73 Holbeinstrasse, Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony, German Empire, have invented a new and useful .ln'iprovement in or Relating to \Vator- Supply or Flush Tanks, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has reference to the construction of water supply or flush tanks such as used for instance for llushing closets especially tanks which are provided with a tilting vessel and the novelty is especially seen in the fact that with a flush tank provided with such tilting vessel. the latter is divided into a small and a large compartment by means of a partition or wall and that in connection therewith there are provided means arranged within the smaller compartment of the tilting vessel for regulating the water supply valve which vessel is filled by means 01 an oven flow from the main compartment, the overflow taking place over the partition between the two compartments, and on tilting this is emptied together with the main chamher. 'llheret'ore it need not be emptied into the main (annpartn'ient through siphon action or by means of a valve, as is the case with flush tanks having a direct water supply.
The means used for regulating the water supply valve consists of a lever connected to said valve and also to a diving body arranged in the smaller compartment and regulating the water supply according to the height of the water in said smaller compartment. The lever device used provides as known for a late beginning of the filling movement and of the closing movement of the supply valve for the lush water.
on the accompanying drawing the liush tank with a tilting vessel and together with means for controlling the water supply according to the invention is shown by way of example in l-igure 1 in a longitudinal section, in Fig. 2 in a plan-view and in Fig. 3 in a section according to line A l) of .l ig. l.
a is the flush tank in which the tilting vessel i) is loosely and pivotally supported by means of pins so as to easily turn or tilt. Said tilting vessel divided by means (If a fixed partition or wall 0 into the main compartment (Z and into the smaller com- Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 530,113.
partment e. \Vithin the tilting vessel 6 the lever f controlling the water supply valve 2' is pivotally supported by the stationary frame of the valve. To the one arm of the lever is connected a diving body or weight g pending into the smaller compartment c and consisting by way of example ol. a closed box. /zis a weight moving within the main compartment (,Z and connected to the other arm of the lever thus being adapted to close the supply valve.
For the purpose oi. avoiding when the vessel 7) is tilted the partition or wall 0 forming a hindrance by knocking against the lever j, the latter is provided with a double bond at the point, where it passes over the partition or wall in such a manner that the la ttcr when the vessel 7) is tilted enters into the double bond of the lever That lever is provuled with a bifurcated end and is connected to the diving body g by pins.
What I claim is:
in a ilush tank, the combination with a tilting vessel, of a partition wall dividing said tilting vessel into a larger and smaller compartment and allowing the admission of the water from the larger into the smaller conipart ment over its upper edge only and the direct discharge of the smaller compartment simultaneously with that of the larger one, a valve controlling the water supply to the said larger (:(nnpartment, a double armed lever connected to the said valve and provided with two bends for receiving the upper edge of the partition of the vessel when tilted, a weight connected to one end of the double armed lever, a diving body of a volume or capacity relatively large in con'iparison to that of the smaller compartment, connected to the other end of the lever, counteracting the weight and pending into said smaller con'ipartment of the divided tilting vessel for regulating the alter supply valve according to the height of the water in the smaller compartment mentioned.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two witnesses, this thirteenth day o'l November 1.902).
FRIEDRICH tillOlttl WANtlllhlN.
