To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RICHARD Knrrnn, a subject of the Prince of Reuss, Younger Line, residing at Gera, Reuss, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dry-Swimming Apparatuses, of which the following a specification, retercnce being had therein to the accompanyin drawing.

This invention relates to a dry swinnning apparatus which permits, besides the proper .position for swimming, a free and un hindered execution of the necessary movements of the arms legs and body during the exercises, so that the use of the apparatus leads to a strengthening of the muscles of the breast, back, abdomen and limbs atthe same time. Moreover, the pressure on the abdomen and in the sides, onerously felt with the apparatuses hitherto in use, is put a stop to, inasmuch as the girdle carrying the body, can adapt itself during the exercises by its improvement, in every position and situation of the body. To attain this object, the part of the dry swimming apparatus affecting the legs consists of two separated parts placed around the thigh, and which, in order to prevent dislocations, may be set in, according to the thickness of the leg, and are so fastened at the girdle as to be capable of moving.

The drawing herewith submitted represents a dry swimming appa 'atus in a form serving as an example for execution and as follows:

Figure 1 shows a longitudinal view of the apparatus consisting of a fore and hind part, while in Figs. 2 and 3, these parts are shown in a larger size.

The dry swimming apparatus consists of the fore part I, comprising a chest girdle 1), adapted to encircle the body just below the arms and having means to secure the ends of the girdle together at the back, or upper part. Two straps c, c, are fastened to the girdle l), at its upper and lower parts, and extend over the shoulders to support the girdle in its proper position on the body. A loop or hanger is llexibly fastened to the upper, or back part of the chest girdle, by which the device is suspended at the proper elevation. The hind part II holds up the legs separately, inasmuch as two leg bands (Z, corresponding to the thickness of the legs, and capable of being set in, are provided. These bands are movable in all directions by means of links c so that the bands (Z, can adaptthemselvcs during the exercises, to the changed position caused by drawing near or stretching out the legs. This hinder part II, is also provided with means for maintenance at the proper elevation.

What I claim, and desire to secure, is,-

In a dry swimming apparatus, a girdle to encircle the chest, two spaced straps whose ends are connected to the upper and lower parts of said girdle and extending in front thereof and adapted to lie against the wcarmrs shoulders, adjustable leg-bands adapted to encircle the thighs, links on said girdle and said leg-bands and hangers engaging said links, said hangers adapted to connect with suitable supports.
