The circulation throughtlie apparatus is as" follows :From the. mixingliank 51,
water passes'by way. of the pipet14, into the heater 1 and from the heater 1 into'the pipe 39 and from the pipe 39 into the boiler (not shown). From the pipe 39, water passes by way of the pipe 40-into the chemical tank 25 and from the chemical tank 25 byway of the pipe 71 to the pumping cylinder 69 and thence 'by way of the pipe 72 into the pipe 75; The water thuspassing into the pipe 75 is charged with a chemical in a manner which will be set. forth hereinafter.
Pure water traverses the pipe 7 8 and enj ters the pipe 75 and thus it will be seen that a mixture of pure water and chemical-laden water is discharged through t-he'pipe 75 into i the pressure tank 51 whence the mixture passes into the pipe 14 to repeat the cycle.
The tank 66'is adapted to contain a reserve supply of pure water, and when the 34 contains thechemical and inthis manner the chemical'is dissolved and'pass'es by way of the pipe 33 below'the platforms 31 in the chemical tank 35. The water charged with chemi'calrises throughthe filtering material 32 and passes intot-he pipe 71, to carry out the cycle hereinbefore described. During the time that the funnel 34 is being charged with chemical, the valve 38 is closed. .By
adjusting the valves 30 and 61, 'thelatter being located in the hot water pipe 60, the temperature of the water deliveredon the chemical in the funnel 34 may be regulated.-
By opening the valve 76, the operator at any time may ascertain whether ornot the supply pipe '78 is-clogged. When t e-pr'essure-m the mixing tank '51 rises to too ei'nor 89- will be operated, tocut off the steam supply to the steam cylinder 70 of the pump" 68, and when the pressure falls to a' normal point, the pump governor 89 will opjerate to open thepipe 85, so that stem is.
again supplied to the pump 68. The water in the heater 1 and in the chemical tank 25 stands at a common level,'and.this level is ma ntained by the action of the float 22, the
eat an extent, the pump govx same controlling the valve 17 which is located in the supply pipe 14 leading to the heater 1.
At times, it may be impossible to maintain a common level in the heater 1 and in the chemical tank 25, owing to the diflerence in elevation of these two elements. Under such circumstances, it may be impossible for water to flow from the heater 1 into the chemical tank 25 by way of the connecting pipe 40 and then the pipe 4O may be dispensed with.
'- Under the circumstances above pointed out,
the entire supply of water to the'che-mical tank 25 is delivered through the pipe 36, the proper level in the chemical tank 25 being regulated through the medium'of the float 48 which controls the valve e3. h
The functions of the hand-hole, the gage glass, the several flushing outlets and other common and well known elements need not 7 be entered into in'detail, in view of the fact that this specification is addressed to those skilled in the art.
