To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, VILLIAM W. SHIRLEY,
a citizen of the United States, residing at v improvements in' or relating'to the devices employed for shaping the lifting hooks provided uponthe ends of the handles included in such implements, whereby both hooks may be bent into shape at t e same time,
and by a single movement of the operating said shaping operation, these holding devices being so constructed and arranged as to admit of their being readily disengaged from the implement at the conclusion of the operation. downwardly at an angle, as indicated by the numeral 12, this inclinedportion being provided with a series of upstanding pins 13 and, also, wit-h a series of cross-pins 14, both of which sets of pins are initially used in forming the preliminary bends in the implement. -As thesepreliminary steps are not comprehended in the invention proper, which relates primarily to the shaping of the hereinafter described liftinghooks, they need no specific description, nor is it deemed necessary to describe the implement itself in detail, as reference may be had to my prior patent, above'identified, for a complete understanding thereof. It is suflicient,
therefore, to state that the implement comprises upper and lower handle members 15 and 16 having a pivotal connection with each other at the points 17, 17 and provided with terminal, pan-engaging devices 18 and 19. In addition to these devices, hooks 20 and 21 are provided upon the outer ends of the handles proper, which hooks'are initially in the form of longitudinal loops that are subsequently bentinto the proper shapes by the operating member hereinafter described. In the completed implement the hook 20 onthe upper handle lo projects upwardly and outwardly therefrom at a suitable angle, and is designed for reception inthe usual socket provided in the stove lid, while the hook 21 on the lower handle16 is inclined inwardly and downwardly, and is to be engaged with the rim of a pie plate or the like.
