Be it known that I, SAMUEL W. PORTEOUS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Reno, in the county of Washoe and State of Nevada, have invented certain new and useful. Improvements in AclvertisingKiosks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to combination devices and has special reference to a combina tion advertising kiosk, garbage receptacle, and fly trap.

One object of the invention is to provide a neat and attractive device for use in displaying advertisements and suitable. to be placed on city streets and in other public places.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved garbage receptacle so arranged that it may be entirely removed from the kiosk and interchanged with a fresh receptacle thus facilitating the collection of garbage and permitting thorough sanitation by reason of the receptacles being cleansed.

A still further object of the invention is to provide above the garbage receptacle an improved form of inclosed fly trap so arranged that flies caught in the trap will fall into the garbage receptacle when they are dead.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and Figure 1 is a side elevation of a kiosk constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail view partly in section, taken close to the roof of the kiosk and showing a corner frame. Fig. 8 is a View of the construction at the corner of the roo In carrying out the objects of this invention there is provided a kiosk which consists of a base frame 10 whereon is mounted a sheet metal hollow pedestal 11 which is provided with an opening at one side, and the lower edge of this opening is bent as at 12 to form a species of trough wherein may rest the downwardly projecting edge 13 of a rectangular garbage can 14: which is provided with a front portion 15 forming a door for said opening. Said front portion is likewise equipped with a handle 16 and the side walls are cut away in a curve 17 which terminates in a shoulder 18 so that when the handle is grasped and the upper part of the device tilted forward this shoulder will strike the upper edge of this opening and limit the outward movement. The bottom of this can rests on suitable frame pieces 19 which support the can, as shown in Fig. 6, thus causing the front of the can to fit the opening neatly. It will be observed that by having the upper edge of the can travel in spaced relation to the upper edge of the opening, the can may be lifted, after tilting slightly forward, so that it may be entirely removed for the purposes of transporting the same to a suitable place for emptying where it may be cleansed. The upper part of the kiosk is provided with a frame which includes cornerv members 20 upon which are supported the upper frame members 21 which carry thecornice 22. Extending upward from this cornice is a roof 23 provided with a suitable light and ventilation opening 24 covered by a screen as shown in Fig. 6. "Connecting the lower part of the corner members is a bottom frame 25 formed of angle iron and intermediate the top and bottom of the members 20, these members are connected by channels 26. At each corner there is provided a cover plate 27 which is connected to the respective corner member 20 by screws 28. It will. be observed that this construction provides means whereby advertising cards 29 may be inserted in the spaces between the corner members and these cards are arranged to be covered .by glasses 30 which are held beneath pads 31 so that when the members 27 and 20 are clamped to gether by the screws 28, the glasses will not be broken, and moreover an attractive border will be furnished for the advertising.

It is to be observed that the hollow pedestal of the kiosk is provided adjacent its upper edges with outwardly projecting hoods 82 which have their bottoms 33 open for the admission of flies, and in like manner the cornice 22 is spaced from the upper frame members to provide the openings 34 wherethrough flies may also pass. Suspended from the upper frame members by means of hooks is a screen frame consisting of an upper rectangular portion 36 and downwardly extending converging bracing wires 37, the two being wrapped or welded together if desired. The structure thus formed is of inverted frusto-pyraniidal form, and is provided with an opening 38 at its lower end having a collar therearound, and to this collar is secured a lower screen member or screen partition 39 which extends across the upper part of the hollow pedestal and lies just beneath the openings 33 at its outer edges. It will thus be observed that the flies which enter and fall to the bottom will fall directly into the garbage can so that they will not accumulate in the other parts of the kiosk.

WVhen the device shown in Figs. 1 to 9, inelusive, is in use the flies pass into the interior of the kiosk through the openings 33 and 21 and fly upwardly into the dome shape roof 23. The flies remain in the roof until they die, and then fall into the inverted cone shape member and drop to the bottom through the collar 38. If desired some poison bait may be placed in the roof and this will cause the flies to be killed. It should be noted that the flies are prevented from reaching the receptacle 17 due to the fact that the collar is closed by means of the cap, and that the fabric 3-9 closes the kiosk below the openings 33. It should also be noted that once the flies have entered the dome shape roof that they will have to remain in this roof until killed, since the fly has a tendency to move toward the ventilating opening 24 which is covered by a screen.

Having thus described the invention, what is clanned as new, is

1. In a device of the kind descr bed, a base, a hollow pedestal mounted on said base, entry openings at the upper part of said hollow pedestal, a casing mounted on said pedestal, an inverted frusto-pyramidal frame hung from the upper part of said casing, a screen surrounding the sides of said frame, a second screen surrounding the lower end of said frame and extending to the sides of the hollow pedestal beneath the entry openings, and a removable receptacle held in said hollow pedestal beneath the second screen.

2. In a device of the kind described, a base, a hollow pedestal mounted on said base, entry openings at the upper part of said hollow pedestal, a casing mounted on said hollow pedestal, an inverted frusto-pyramidal frame hung from the upper part of said casing, a screen surrounding the sides of said frame, a second screen surrounding the lower end of said frame and extending to the sides of the hollow pedestal beneath the entry openings, a removable receptacle held in said hollow pedestal beneath the second screen, and a top for the casing having its bottom edges in spaced relation to the top of the casing whereby to provide entry openings between said edges and easing.
