NUT-LOCK.
Specfcation of Letters Patent. i
Patented Nov. 18, 1913.
Application filed January 4, 1913. Serial No. 740,243.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. LUDWIOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beaunont, in the county of Butler and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Nut-Lock, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to provide a nut lock which may be fashioned at trifling cost from inexpensive material, the construction of the device being such that the same may be einployed without injuring the material in which the bolt and nut structure is mounted, an adjustrnent of the nut, and a firm securing of the nut against rotation being possible.
The invention is shown in a single perspective figure.
The nut look herein disclosed comprises a resilient plate 32 having angularly dis posed, projecting, supporting flanges 34 at its ends and provided in its side edges with slits defining a reduced neck 35, there being locking tongues 37 upstanding from the plate 32 at the ends of the slits, the plate 32 having a bolt receiving Opening 36 located in the neck and between the tongues 37, the plate 32 being continuous along its longitudinal center, saving for the bolt receiving Opening 36. r
The reduced neck 35 formed intermediate the ends, of the plate 32 gives the plate suffieient resiliency to exercise its functions. The tongues 37, as will be understood readily, constitute elements which hold the nut against rctation. It is to be observed that the plate 32 is continuous along its longitudinal center, saving for the bolt receiving Opening 36. The plate, therefore, although resilient, is rendered stiff enough to hold the tongues engaged with the nut.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is A nut lock comprising a plate having angularly disposed, projecting, supporting flanges at its ends and provided in its side edges with slts defining a reduced neck, there being a looking tongue upstanding from the plate at one end of each Slit, the plate having a bolt receiving Opening located in the neck and between the tongues, the plate being continuous along its longitudinal center, saving for the bolt receiving Opening.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM F. LUDWICK.
