The Schedule referred to iu these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'iL Vmay concern 'Be it known that I, El. Monson', ot the. city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Apparatus for Preparing an iniproved Water-Proof Material from ifapcr; and l do hereby declare that the following is a t'nll and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making part ol' this specification* Figure 1 beingl a plan of the principal part ot' the apparatus to which my improvement belongs, sullicient to show its operation.

I will tirst describe the general I'eatures oi' the whole apparatus.
The body ot' this apparatus may he ol` any suitable rand convenient forni, as represented, or Otherwise,

Over the partitions between the several compartments, respectively, are pairs oi' squeezing-rollers I; b, fj', It lr, 'in m, o o, and 1. t, between which the roll, a', of paper successively passes, 4and is subjected to the required pressure.

Since-the acid-bath is required to lie kept at `a t-enqieratnre ot' (5()o Fahrenheit, or closely approxihinting thereto, and since the passage of the paper through it continua-ily raises its temperature, I pro' vide t'or regulatingl the tempera-turc accordingly, and the nature ol' my invcntionconsists in surrounding the acid-hath with acooling hath, provided with ice or other cooling nntterial.

Finally, after passing between the rollers tt, (or
