To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LYDIA EBELING, Jr., a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, residing at Bar-men, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Arresting the Plaiting-Bobbins of Plaiting-lvlachines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a plaiting machine and more particularly it concerns a device for temporarily arresting the plaiting bobbins or spools and for reengaging the same with the slide-way plate. The disengaging of the bobbins from the slide-way plates is effected by means of catch-forks which also reengage the bobbins in the plates.

The movement of the arms of the catchfork for reengaging the bobbin could also be obtained in any other convenient manner, for example, the arms of the catch-fork could be independent the one from the other and mounted in pairs upon axles adapted to be revolved from the driving mechanism so that when the arms are moved owing to the revolution of said axles they are guided along fixed inclined surfaces or along fixed nipples (Figs. 7 to 9).

Figures 1 to 3 show the device in two elevations perpendicular the one to the other and in a plan View respectively, the several parts being shown in the positions which they assume when the bobbin is arrested. Figs. l to 6 are similar views representing the parts in the positions which they assume for reengaging the bobbin.

The bearings 1 are mounted in a casing 11 fixed to the slide way plate by means of screws 8 so that the bearings can swing perpendicularly to the plane in which the arms 3 and 3 oscillate so that these arms can move in two directions perpendicular the one to the other.
The arms of the catch-fork reach at bot-h ends over the points of intersection of two juxtaposed slide-way plates and they have recesses at their upper edges with which the plaiting spindles can engage. During the engaging of the bobbin the arms of the catch-fork are at rest and, owing to their direction, they conduct the bobbin away from the spider arms (Figs. 1 to The arms 3 and 3 of the catch-fork have nipples 7 behind which the plaiting spindle 5 is caught after it has slightly depressed the arms of the catch-fork against the action of the parts 1. The rear ends of the arms of the catch-fork to which said springs 4 are attached butt against a triangular intermediate piece 9 which is loosely mounted so that it is turned in consequence of the perpendicular oscillating motion of one of the arms. This triangular intermediate piece 9 consequently pushes aside the other arm in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the first arm moves (Fig. 5).
For reengaging a bobbin one of the arms 3, 3 of the catch-fork is pulled down by the pull wire 10 operated by the driving mechanism (Figs. 4 to 6). This arm acts with its rear end through the intermediary of the triangular piece 9 upon the other arm 8* mounted in the revoluble bearing 1, and makes this arm turn in such a manner that its front end catches the plaiting spindle and pushes the bobbin in engagement with the slide-way, this front end of the arm 3 sliding at the same time over the arm which is pulled down (Figs. 1 to 6).
When the rear end of the arm 3 of the fork which has been pulled down descends, it engages with a U-shaped guide piece 12 along which it slides and where it finds the required support for acting upon the other arm of the catch-fork (Fig. 5). The arms of the catch-fork return to the normal position through the action of the springs 4.
I claim A11 improved device for arresting the plaiting bobbins of plaiting machines comprising in combination a catch fork for disengaging and rengaging the bobbins with the drivers consisting of two identical horizontal arms, a vertical bearing for each arm a pivot in each bearing around which the arm can swing in vertical direction, a support for the bearings, pivots of said bearings mounted in said support so that the bearings can turn and make the arms swing in horizontal direction, springs attached with one end to the rear ends of the arms and with the other end to said support, a triangular intermediate piece pivotally mounted upon the rear end of the support between the rear ends of said arms adapted to swing under the action of the fork arm which moves in vertical direction so that it pushes aside the other fork arm, and a shoulder at the inner surface of the front end of each fork arm for catching the bobbin, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
