IMPROVEMENT iN cQMBINnnLANTERNs -ANncANnLnsncxs A'.lhe Schedule referred bovin these Letters atent' making part of the same` Fort Branch,- in the county of Gibsonand ,State of Indiana, have invented a certain new and improved Candlestick and Lantern combined, and that the following is a fulh'clear, and exact description of' the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the Candlestick and lantern combined, when a candle is used.
Figure 2 is a similar view, when a lamp is used in- Figure 3is a perspective view of the Candlestick separate, showing the supports furthe candle and chimney. t
Figure 4 is a longitudinalsection of the lantern-l bail or handle, and an end view of the covering on'top of the lantern, also showing the band or support of the top end of the chimney'.
In'the drawing- Fig. 1, A is a'tin base, with the three metal stays, B B B, to steady the chimney 0, being bent out at A the bottom, where they are fastened to the base A,

The object of this improvement is to make a cheap candlestick, which will cost but a few cents. Having no socket, it will requireno shoving up of the candle, and hence will consume all the candle, without wast-e; and, second, by the addition of merely a cheap, ordinary lainp-chimney, and a bail, with the band and cap,
as shown, hooked onto the candlcstick, a very cheap light and convenient lantern is made, which will answer the requirements of an ordinary lantern, and cost but a few cents, and, incase the glass is broken by accident, it will cost but a tridc to get another one, it being a common lamp-chimney, and sold in all places where lamps are-sold.
I claim- 1. v The Candlestick A, with the pieces ol'metalB B B, and also the wires D l) I), all being fastened to the base A, for the purpose shown, in connection with a glass chimney, as fully described and set forth.
2. The combination ot' the candlestick A, chimney 0, bail E E, rim 1, cap S, and catches a. a, for the purpose described and set forth.
