To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHRIS C. RUsH, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Hot Springs, in the county of Garland and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saloon-Stock-Recording Charts, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a saloon stock recordingchart, and its, object is to provide a chart adapted to enable the proprietor of a saloon to keep an accurate record of the quantity of stock issued, sold and on hand, together with a record of the quantity of each particular brandsold, the amount of each days sales and the total sold during a the month.

It is also designed to enable the proprietor of the saloon, to determine the quantity of any individual sale, as for instance, whether sold by the halfpint, pint, quart, etc. p I i It is also ano-bject of the invention to enable the proprietor to keep an accurate account of the number of cigars sold, their quality or value, the total of each days cigar sale and the total sales of cigars during the month.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will beset forth in the detailed description which now follows.

The figure shown in the accompanying drawing is a view of a chart or ledger leaf, and it is arranged to keep the stock recorded for one month.

It is apparent that twelve of these charts to cover a year, may be bound in book form, or the charts may be separately used and filed as in a card index.

By referring to the drawing it will be seen that the chart employs a novel color scheme. In the vertical columns 1 are entered the names of the various brands of whiskies, wines, beers, etc. The horizontal columns 2 are colored to correspond with the vertical columns 3. In the present instance, red, white and yellow have been indicated. The columns 2 and the letters A, B, C, etc., at the left hand end thereof constitute arbitrary symbols indicative of quantity, the coloring of the columns corresponding to the coloring of vertical columns as hereinafter described and bearing a definite relation to the coloring of said vertical columns. For instance, red designates quarts, white, pints and yellow, half pints, and as will be presently described the vertical columns,

correspondingly colored and located beneath the name of each brand will show at a glance just what quantity of each brand has been sold. There are 31 of the horizontal columns 3, one for each day of the month, and these columns are numbered from one to thirty-one. In alinement with each of the vertical columns 1 and intersecting the horizontal columns 3 are vertical columns marked A, B and C and the horizontal columns 2 are correspondingly marked. The letter A may designate quarts, B, pints and C, half pints, and it is apparent that additional colors may be employed and additional vertical columns may be brought into alinement with the columns 1 so that gallons, barrels, half barrels, etc. may be likewise recorded. Horizontal columns correspondingly lettered and colored and designated at t are arranged beneath the columns 3 and are intersected by the vertical lines which separate the columns 1. The columns 4 are totals columns and this portion of the chart is used as follows. The names Sunny Brook, Murray Hill, Green River and Kentucky Belle, written in the vertical columns 1 designate various brands of whiskies. Under the system employed with this chart the bartender will commence each days business with the same quantity of stock. For example, on the first day of the month the proprietor issues ten quarts of Sunny Brook, ten pints of Murray Hill, ten quarts of Green River and ten quarts of Kentucky Belle. Each morning thereafter the bartender will make requisition for enough of each brand to enable him to commence the days business with this quantity on hand. If on the first day of the month he sells four quarts of Sunny Brook and one pint of Sunny Brook, two quarts of Murray Hill, two pints of Green River, six quarts of Kentucky Belle and four pints of Kentucky Belle, the record for the first day of the month will indicate as shown upon the drawing.

The record for the second day of the month, as indicated upon the leaf, shows that SlX one half pints of Sunny Brook, four pints of Murray Hill, three quarts of Green River, two quarts of Kentucky Belle and one pint of Kentucky Belle were sold on that day. At the end of the month the number of pints, half pints, and quarts of each brand are entered in the horizontal columns 4:, the quarts being entered in the red columns, the'pints in the white columns and the half pints in the yellow columns, as will be readily understood. In the horizontal columns 5 are entered the names of the various drinks sold, such for instance as whiskey, beer, wine, ale, brandy, gin, etc., and the total sales from each in dollars and cents will be entered in the vertical columns 5 In column 6 will be entered the names of the various brands of cigars and the small. figures at the top of vertical columns 7 will be the quality or price of said cigars and in these columns and beneath said figures will be entered the sales of the 5, 10, 15 and 25 cent brands. The daily sales of the cigars will be entered in the vertical columns 8. In the columns designated by 9, will be entered the monthly total of the number of cigars issued, and the total amount of cash received from the sale of cigars during the month.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that the present invention comprises simple and eflicient means of enabling the proprietor of a saloon to keep an accurate record of his sales. It is to be understood however, that the invention is not limited to the precise construction shown, but that minor changes within the scope otthe appending claims can be resorted to, and particularly should it be understood that if the scheme set forth should be employed, additional columns may be provided and additional colors used to enable the proprietor to keep a record of sales in quantities other than those set forth.

Having described my invention, what I claim is 1. A chart of the character described bearing matter dividing it into a plurality of main vertical columns and a plurality of horizontally disposed rows of varying colors which intersect said main vertical columns adjacent the lower portion of the chart and bearing matter sub-dividing said main vertical columns into a plurality of narrower, vertical columns which are colored to correspond with the coloring of the aforesaid horizontal rows, said narrower, vertical columns terminating short of said horizontal rows, the intersection of said main vertical columns withsaidhorizontal rows forming a plurality of total'sspaces equal in number to the number of the horizontal rows and equal in length to the width of the main vertical columns, said'narrower,vertical columns being intersected by a plurality of lines dividing the chart into a plurality of horizontally disposed rows bearing mat-terindicative of the days of the month.

2. A chart of the character described, dis vided into a plurality of vertical columns intersected adjacent the upper'portion of the chart by a plurality of horizontally disposed rows of varying colors and intersected adjacent the lower portion of the chart by a plurality of additional horizontally disposed rows correspondingly colored, each of said vertical columns between said horizontal rows being sub-divided into a plurality of smaller vertical columns of varying colors corresponding to the coloring of said horizontal rows.

A chart of the character described, clivided into a plurality of vertical columns intersected adjacent the upper portion of the chart by a plurality of horizontally disposed rows of varying colors and intersected adjacent the lower portion of the chart by a plurality of additional horizontally disposed rows correspondingly colored, each of said vertical columns between said horizontal rows being sub-divided into a plurality of vertical smaller columns of varying colors corresponding to the coloring of the aforesaid horizontal rows and each of the lastnamed vertical columns being intersected by a plurality of horizontally disposed "rows bearing matter indicative of the days of the month.
