To all 'whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, PERCY M. ELLIOTT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Strops, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates inrgeneral to razor strops, andmore particularly to that type of razor strops in which the strops are mounted upon the supporting frame.

It is often inconvenient to find a suitable support upon which to hang the usual fleXi ble razor strop, and hence it is desirable that the strop should be mounted upon a` portable supporting frame. The objection to this latter type of razor strop, as heretofore constructed, is that when the strops wear out the device becomes useless and must be thrown away.

The object of my invention is to provide a razor strop of the type in which the strops 1 are mounted upon a portable frame, in which the strops may be readily placedrupon the supporting and stretching frame, and may be easily removed when worn out and replaced by new strops, thereby permit-ting the same supporting frame to vbe repeatedly used by merely renewing the strops when necessary. A further objectKV of my invention is to provide a razor strop which will be simple and durable in construction and convenient in use. Y

' My invention will be more fully disclosed hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which the same is illustrated as embodied in a convenient'and practical form, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevational view, the adjusting turnbuckle being shown in section; Fig. 2, a plan view; Fig. 3, a sectional detail through one end of the device; and Fig. 4:, an end elevational view.

The same reference characters are used to designate the same parts in the several iigures of the drawing.

faces of the heads are concave, preferably Vshaped in cross section, to receive blocks C andv C2 which are preferablymade of wood vso as to permit the. ends of the `strops being tacked thereto. Y

Inorder to permit the convenient connection of the blocks with the corresponding heads, and at the same time to allowthe blocks to bereadily applied to and removed from the heads, eachy of the heads is pro'- vided with inwardly projecting beads a and I a2 along the outer edges of the concavity therein. The ends of the strops extend around the heads and blocks and are secured to the latter by suitable fastening devices, such, for instance, as tacks F.

The manner of assembling and using my improved razor strop will be readily understood-from the foregoing description. The

Vblocks C and C2 are seatedjwithin therecesses in the outer ends of the heads A and A2 by engaging the grooves in the blocks with the beads at the outer edges of therecesses in the heads. The blocks are then slid relatively to the heads until the stop flanges a are engaged. The strops are then placed upon opposite sides of the heads and their ends tacked to the blocks. The turnbuckle is then manipulated so as, to separate the heads and thereby impart to the strops the desired tension.

It will be observed from the above description that in my improved razor strop the strops may be readily removed when worn out and new stropsapplied by merely withdrawing the'tacks from the ends of thev imparted to them, While the blocksV being made of Wood permit the convenient securing to them of t-he ends of the strops.

While I have described more or less in detail the specilic form in Which I have illustrated my invention as embodied, yet I do not Wish to be understood as limiting myselfv thereto, as I contemplate changes'in form, proportion of parts, and substitution of equivalents, as ci-rcumstancesmay require, or as may be deemed expedient.

That I claim is: Y

l. In a razor strop, thecombination with a pair of heads having recesses in their outer surfaces, of means fcr adj ustably connecting said heads, blocks removably engaging Within said recesses, and strops sei n cured to said blocks.

2. In a razor strop, the combination with a pair of heads having recesses 1n their outer surfaces, of means for adjustably concopes of this patent may be obtained for necting said heads, beads along the outer engaging said beads, and strops secured to said blocks. v s

Ina razor strop, the combination with a pair vof heads having recesses in rtheir outer surfaces, of means for adjustably connecting said heads, beads along the outer edges of said recesses, blocks removably litting Within said recesses and having grooves engaging said beads, a flange formed at one side of each of said recesses against which the block seated therein engages, and strops secured to said blocks.
