Be it known that 1, Louis on LISSA"BEBG, a citizen of the United States, residing'at Water-town, in the county of'Jefl'erson and State of New York,'have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hydropneumatic Valves, ,of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to improvements in hydro-pneumatic valves, and has for its ob-I ject to provide a novel, simple and .efi'ective' device of the class, wherein a three-way cock for controlling air or other fluid-pres sure is combined with a water or other liquid discharge or lift; the said features being embodied in a one-part body, which is capable of being attached to a suitable liquid container, for lifting and discharging the liquid under pressure, ior sprinkling or other purposes.

The operation of my hydro-pnemnatic :valve is as follows: Assuming that the valve "7' and the other parts. are in the positions shown in Fig. 3, wherein the water in the retainer 10 and the tank 18 is, at acomm on level, owin to the check-valve being open, to obtain t e water from the retainer for sprinkling or other purposes, the operator shifts the handle 8 from the horizontal positions shown in Figs. 1 and 3, to the vertitainer L1 0, and in which is disposed -a-free---- ball 23. 24:.represents a bushing, which is threaded into the outer end of. the cage 22,

When suflicient water has been forced or lifted out of the retainer, the operator should reverse the handle 8, to the position shown in Fig. 3, which allows the pressure remaining in the retainer above the water to escape or exhaust through the port 9, plug 7 and an exhaust port- 27. the ball 23 will gravitate away from its seat at the end of the bushing 2 1, which will allow the recharging of the retainer through the said bushing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A hydro-pneumatic valve, comprising a body having a valve-chamber therein, and having a pressure-inlet and a pressure outletport communicating with said chamber, said body having a liquid-discharge passage,
one portion of said passage disposed parallel to thepressure-outlet port, the other portion of said passage comprising the bore of anozzle, a rotatable three-way valve-plug disposed in said chamber adapted to control the admission, as well as, the exhaust of the pressure, and a handle for operating said valve-plug.

The combination with a tank for containing liquid, said tank having a threaded opening in its top, of a valve connecting with the opening of the tank, said valve comprising -:a--b ody having apressure inlet port leading to a valve-chamber, and a port leading from said chamber to the tank, said body having a liquid discharge port, one end of said port communicating with said tank, the other end of said port comprising the bore of a nozzle, a three-way valve-plugin said chamber adapted to control the passage of the pressure to and from the said tank, a handle for operating said plug, and
a pipe connected with the liquid discharge port adapted for drawing liquid from the bottom of said tank.
3. In combination, a tank for containing liquid, said tank having a threaded opening in its top and a liquid inlet port near its bottom, a valve, said valve connecting with the opening in the tank, said valve comprising a body having a pressure inlet port leading to a valve chamber and a port leading from said chamber to said tank, said body having a normally open liquid'discha-rge port, one end ofsaid discharge port communicating with the interior of the said tank, the other end of said discharge port passing through a nozzle, a valve-plug in said chamber adapted to control the inflow and the outflow of the pressure to and from saidtank, and a handle for operating said valve-plug.

In a device of the class described, the combination with a liquid tank having a threaded opening in its top, eta valve-body having a depending neck adapted to be screwed into said opening, said body having a valve-chamber connecting with the interior of the tank by means of a port, said body having an air-inlet-port connecting with said chamber, said body having a liquid-discharge passage in the said depending neck parallel to the first port and'communicating with the interior of the tank, said body having a nozzle connecting with said liquid-discharge passage, a pipe connecting with said discharge-passage adapted to draw' the liquid from the bottom of the tank, and a three-way-valve in said chamber, said valve adapted for admitting air pressure to the said tank for forcing the liquld through said pipe and said nozzle, said valve capable of being operated for exhausting the air pressure from saidtank and for stopping the discharge of the liquid through said nozzle, and'means for manually operating said valve.
