To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, Finn) W. MILLER, Josnrn J. Karin, and SAMUEL D. Ronmson, citizens of the United States, residing at Sheldon, in the county of Ollrien and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Display Stands and Racks; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in combination display stands and racks.

C ne object of the invention is to provide a combined display stand and rack supported on a single post or standard and having a maximum amount ot hanging and displaying surface arranged thereon in such ma nner as to provide access to all parts and from which the goods may be most advantageously displayed and on which the goods may be quickly and easily covered when desired.

Another object is to provide a combined display stand and rack of the character described which will be simple, strong, durable and inexpensive in construction, efficient in operation and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel it'eatures of construct-ion, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described and claimed.

Fig. 7 is a similar view of one of the socket plates which secure the inner ends of the brace rods of the racks to the standard or post.

Our improved combination display stand and rack comprises a single supporting post or standard 1 which may be of any suitable size and shape and of any desired height, said post being here shown as rectangular in cross section and as being secured to the floor or other support by right angular corner braces 2, one member oi. which is countersunk and suitably :lastencd in the sides of the post at the lower end thereof, while the other member is countersunk and secured in the floor as clearly shown in Fig. 2 ot the drawings. Slidably engaged with the lower end oi. the standard or post 1 is a rectangular frame 3 having secured to its lower end a rectangular floor plate t, which when the frame 3 is slipped downwardly to its greatest extent on the standard 1, engages the floor, said frame and plate :lorming a brace for the lower end of the post as well as providing an ornamentation therefor and covering the braces 2.

Secured to the upper end of the post or standard 1 is a table or shaft 5 which may be of any desired size and shape and which is designed to receive any objects which it may be desired to place thereon for display and which cannot be conveniently supported on the rack hereinafter described.

Arranged transversely through the post or standard 1 a short distance below the table or shaft 5 are parallel horizontally disposed rack slmporting rods (3 which are spaced a suitable distance apart and have their ends projecting any desired distances beyond the opposite sides of the post 1 as shown. The rods (3 are preferably tubular and have their ends threaded to receive "1 couplings 7 with which the side bars 8 of the rack 9 are engaged. The outer portions of the T-couplings with which the side bars 8 of the rack are engaged are preferably smooth or without threads to permit the rods 8 to be passed freely lherethrough when being adjusted to form the rack. On the rack supporting bars 6 at the points where the same engage the sides of the post 1 are arranged beveled tapered collars 10 which provide an ornamentation around the rods where they engage the post and cover up any irregularities or roughness which might appear in the edges of the passages in the posts through which the rods extend.

The ends of the side bars 8 of the rack are threaded and have thereon elbows 11 with which are also engaged the end bars 12 of the rack frame. Arranged on said end bars 12 are centrally disposed T-couplings 13 with the downwardly extending branches of which are engaged the outer ends of inclined or angular brace rods 14- the lower ends of which are engaged with threaded passages 15 which are formed at anangle in brace attaching plates 16 secured to the opposite sides of the post or standard 1. The outer portions orbranches of the T-couplings- 13 with which the end bars 12 of the rack frame are engaged are also preferably smooth or without threads to permit the bars 12 to be readily engaged therewith and turned therein while being screwed into the elbows. 11 which connect the end and sidebars of the rac Byconstructing and arranging our improved stand and rack as herein shown and described it will be seen. that a large number of suits of clothing or other garments or goods may be supported on the rack and table by one post or standard which will permit the floor beneath and around the de vice to be readily kept clean and will permit the goods displayed on the. rack and table to be completel covered when desired.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood. without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim is:
