MoNaUoI-I- Ton, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county ot Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Table Attachment, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invent-ion relates generally to table attachments, and is more particularly directed to an improved structure adapted to hold vessels or receptacles containing food at different heights .trom the table.

The principal object of the invent-ion is to provide a new and improved attachment of the class described which may be disposed of at small cost due to the simple construction rendering the production thereol:l possible at a low figure.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will be disclosed as the description thereof proceeds.

Reference is to be had to the accompany ing drawings forming a part of this specilication, in which like characters o' reference denote corresponding parts in both the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form oit the attachment; while Fig. 2 is a partial perspective ot a modification.

Referring particularly to Fig. 1, the device comprises the fixed and spaced uprights 1 provided with a number of spring-pressed stops 2 thereon, the lower end of the uprights being integral with oll'set portions 3 adapted to lie adjacent the top of the table, there being a tl-shaped portion -t positioned beneath the table and connected with the said portions 3 by means oit' vertically eX- tending parts 5. The structure so far described is designed to be attached to the ta ble by engagement with opposite sides of the top, the element which supports the vessel or dish being adjustably mounted on this supporting frame in a manner to be now described.

The vessel or dish is designed to be received in a `trame G which may be made oit bent wire, it so desired, or short lengths ot' tubing, substantially dished and circular in formation, and having downwardly extending posts 7 adapted to come adjacent the said uprights 1; the posts are spaced and held relatively to each other by means of cross pieces 8 secured thereon, the ends of the lower cross pieces being extended and provided with openings 9 through which the said uprights 1 pass, the frame being then bodily movable longitudinally of the uprights, the said stops 2 forming rests for supporting the frame. The top cross piece S is rigidly secured in any suitable manner to the posts 7.

rlhe top cross piece 8 is preferably pro vided with a catch 10 having a bent lower end 11 adapted to engage either of the lower cross pieces 8 in order to maintain the frame (5 at dill'erent elevations with respect to the lower cross pieces, as indicated in the drawings. lt' so desired, one of the cross pieces may be provided with a holder 12 adapted to support a spoon 13.

In order to more irmly secure the attachment on the table and prevent slipping, a resilient structure may be employed comprising a U-shaped frame 14 of springy material, positioned on the said parts 5 of the supporting member and movable therealong, being` held in certain position through the n'iedium of helical springs l5. In order to hold the tablecloth immovable on the table, and thereby prevent pulling of the cloth, disturbing the attachment, the under part of the supporting frame l may be provided with an opening reeeiving a threaded and sharp-pointed screw 1G adapted to engage the cloth on the under side of the table.

` t will be apparent that the size and shape, as well as the particular materials used in the production of the attachment may be varied in order to produce an article adapted to 'support vessels or dishes of various sizes, such changes being comprehended within the inventive idea disclosed.

Y Having thus described my invention, what- I claim as-new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. An article of the class described comprising spaced uprights adapted to be carried adjacent the table top, resilient means engaging the top for holding the uprights in position, a frame, posts extending from the frame, cross pieces engaging the posts and uprights, a cross piece secured to the posts, and a catch carried by the last-mentioned cross piece adapted to engage the others, whereby the frame may be held at diiferent heights above the table.

2. A table attachment comprising spaced uprights, means whereby they may be held in position adjacent the table top, a trame adapted to hold a dish or vessel, posts carried by the frame, cross pieces engaging the posts and uprights, the parts being movable relatively one to the other, a cross piece secured tothe posts, and a catch carried by the Said last cross piece and adapted to engage one of the first-mentioned cross pieces, whereby the fra-me may be held at different elevations above the table, the said uprights being provided with spring-pressed catches whereby the uprights and frame may be moved longitudinally of the said uprights.

3. A table attachment, comprising spaced i uprights adapted to be held in position adjacent the table top, a frame adapted to hold a dish or vessel, posts carried by the frame, extending downwardly therefrom and lying adjacent the said uprights, cross pieces carried by the posts and uprights, the posts and uprights being movable relatively to the cross pieces, a cross piece fixed to the posts, a catch carried by the said fixed cross piece and adapted to engage in one of the other cross pieces, whereby the position ot the frame and posts relatively to the irst-mention-ed cross pieces may be varied, and

catches carried by the uprights for engagep ment with the said first-mentioned cross pieces, wherebythe said fram-e and cross pieces may occupy different positions relatively to the said uprights.
