Be it known tiat I, EwALnKoenNnR, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Dresden, Germany, have invented an Improved Sheet-Feeding Device, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a device for feeding sheets of paper from the bottom of a pile and co-nsists in the provision of two coacting bands oneof which is an endless band adapted to support the pile and to be rolled alternately into supporting position while the bearings of the bands are reciprocated under the pile to allow the sheets to be fed singly through the space between them. For feeding the sheets suction iiozzles are provided with may'eitlier be arranged independently of the bands or in connection with the rollers on which the bands are carried.
In the accompanying drawings the invention is illustrated by way of example, Figure 1 representing a sectional side view of one construction showing the elements in the first end position, Fig. 2, a view of the saine showing the elements in the center position, and Fig. 3, a view showing the elements in the second end position. r Fig. 4 is a sectional side view of a different construction.
In Figs. 1 to 3 the two bands are designated 5 and 9 respectively,-tlie latter band being endless and carried by rollers 7 and 8 which are mounted in bearings in a longivtudinally movable frame 6. Near the roller 8 another, large sheet delivery roller 3 is mounted in the frame. The roller 8 and a portion of the endless band 9 carried thereby overlies a peripheral portion of the delivery roller 3, the upper run of the endless ban'dv being in substantially the plane of the flexible band that normally supports the pack or ile of sheets 1. This delivery roller is tted with a suction nozzle 4 and has one end of the band 5 connected thereto close to one edge of said nozzle. The other end of the band is connected to an element 2 which is stationary while the frame 6, together with the, band 9 and the delivery roller 3, is adapted to be rcciprocated longitudinali .of the bands and toward and from the xed element 2. The paper pile l is arranged against the element 2 so as to be supported by one or both of the bands 5 and 9, according to the position of the frame 6.
The modus 'ope/raadt' is as followsif-In the position shown inv Fig. 1 .the paper pile is supported on the band 5, and one end of the lowermost sheet has just been attracted by the suction nozzle 4. As the frame 6 is moved in the direction of the arrow the delivery roller 3 will be turned by the pile so as to feed the attracted sheet between the bands as shown in Fig. 2, the band 5 being4 tion underneath the pile which causes the rollers 7 and 8 to turn and the supporting surface of the band to remain stationary relative to the pile. The sheet is delivered in the position shown in Fig. 3 whereupon the elements are returned to the firstposition for the delivery of a fresh sheet.
According to Fig. 4 two endless bands 9 are employed between which an independent suction nozzle 11 is arranged. The latter is held by the frame 6 so as to follow its move ments and at the same time allow of being moved vertically for catching the sheets and pulling them away between the bands.

In a device for feeding single sheets 'from the bottom of a pile, a flexible band for normally supporting the pile, a roller having a suction mouth to one of the longitudinal edges of which one end of said band is attached, a longitudinally movable frame in which said roller is joiirnaled for oscillation, and an endless pack-supporting band also carried by and movable independently of the frame, a portion of said endless band extending over a peripheral portion of the delivery roller.

A device for feeding single sheets of pa er from the bottom of a'pile, comprising a rame adapted to be reciprocated beneath the pile, an. endless band carried by rollers ysuction nozzlel the pile when the frame is reciprocated, one of the said endless band carrying rollers being mounted above a peripheral portion of the delivery roller, a suction nozzle carried by said delivery roller so as to take away a sheet from the pile when the endless band is moved by the frame into supporting position, a band connected to the edge of the so as to be Wound on and oli' the delivery roller, and a rigid element holding the other end of said latter band so as to supporttlie pile by means of this band When the endless therewith. 4.
