From the foregoing` it will be observed that by adjusting the screw 31, the heel members 2 and- Q2 can be longitudinally adjusted, that is, said members can be separated or drawn together through the medium of the wedge 39. t
The forward ends of the'toe members l can be vseparated through the medium of the stem la and the wedge ll, and the adjustable toe members eoperate with the adjustable heel members in stretching a shoe or sustain its form while the shoe is not in use.
What I claim is l. A shoe last comprising` a pair ofV adjustable heel members, each ot said members formed with a recess havingone wall inclined and cach ot said members further provided with a pair of guide ways. a plate countersnnk in the bottoms of said members and of greater length than the combinedulength of the members, means for slidably connecting said plate to saidl memiers, a verticallyv movable adjustingr wedge capable ot engaging` the inclined walls ot said recesses for shitting said members relatively to each other, said wedge provided with lugs traveling in said guide ways, a rotatable threaded stem engaging with said wedge tor supporting and adjusting it.v and means for rotatably connecting the lower cud ot said stem to said plate.

A shoe last comprising a pair of toc anda pair ot' heel members, a plate countersunk in thc bottoms of said heel members and 'further having one end countorsunk in the bottoms of said toe members, means for slidably r onncctin ef said plate to said heel members` a channel-shaped keeper plate cured to that heel member opposing the toe members and provided with key-hole shaped openings, headed pins carried by the toe members and engaging in said keeper plate tor loosely connecting the toe members to that heel member provided with the keeper plate, a vertically movable means for adjusting' said heelfmembers relatively to each other` and a. longitudii 'ally movable means l'or adjusting said toe members relatively to lnach 'other'. i
