Y -This invention relates to improvement in stop devices applied to loom-shuttles, for tlxepurpose ot' arresting the/saine upon the breaking of a thread.
Theinventiou consists in the construction and arf rangement of parts, as hereinafter specified.
Ain the drawing represents a shuttle of suitable construction. Through its side is iitted a box, B, which' has two inwardly-prnjectlng eyes or loops, a and b.
1n the box B is held a pivoted lever, C, which carries one or more projecting hooks or eyes, c, and which is so weighted thatits outer end dhas the tendency to project beyond the outside of the shuttle.
When the shuttle is in use, the thread e is drawn through the eyes a,'b, and c, tbelatter being between tlie forlner two. As long as the thread is tense it will hold the eye c in line .with a b, and will thereby keep the weighted end d of' the lever elevated, so that the same will clear the outer face ofthe shuttle. When, however, the tension of the tln'ead ceases, from what: ever cause that may be, the lever' will drop, so that its outer end, d, will project beyond the sident' the. shuttle. The projecting part of' the. lever will then serve as a stop for arresting the shuttle, preventing the same from reaching the propelling apparatus. Muchinconvenience in the operation ot' weaving and injury to the fabric are thus avoided Arrestincr the shuttles of looms by nieaus of adi-op is not new; but myarraugement .for the purpose is more simple and effective than those herotofore known.
Having thus described' my invent-ion, v
I claim as new and -desire to secure by Letters Pateut- 1 The loops a -and b, and eyes c. c, attached respecte ively to the case B and pivoted lever C, all said'parts being constructed and arranged in the particular man- -ner shown and described, for the purpose specified.
THEODOR BOSSHARD.
