INVENTOR ATTO R NEYS COLUMBIA PLANOURAPH couwAsr-lmu'rom n1 1:.
UNITED STATES PATENT @FFTQE.
KAZIMIER BOROVSKI, 0F DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
WASI-IBOILER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KAZIMLER BoRovsKI, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Detroit, in the county of Vayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vashboilers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to wash boilers, and the primary object of myinvention is to furnish a wash boiler with a novel clothes holder that permits of clothes being elevated whereby water can readily drain from the same and the clothes cooled to that extent that they can be easily removed from the wash boiler.
Another ob-iect of this invention is to furnish a wash boiler with a clothes holder in the form of a foraminous body that can be easily, quickly andsafely elevated relatively to the boiler to permit of water draining from the clothes.
A further object of this invention is to furnish the bottom of a boiler with a novel heat distributer that facilitates the heating and boiling of water within the boiler.
A still further object of this invention is to furnish a boiler with a simple, durable and inexpensive attachment that prevents clothes from being burned by the bottom of a clothes boiler.
Vith the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a clothes boiler in accordance with this invention,
Fig. 2- is a longitudinal sectional view of the same, Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View of the boiler, Fig. 4; is a side elevation of the clothes boiler showing the attachment thereof in an elevated position, and Fig. 5 is a horizontal sectional view of the boiler.
Further describing my invention in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein like numerals denote corresponding parts throughout: 1 denotes an oblong receptacle having the shape of an ordinary clothes boiler and the upper edges of thereceptacle, at the ends thereof are provided with handles 2 whereby the clothes boiler can be easily moved. the receptacle has a plurality of openings a closed by conical-shaped nipples 5 extending into the receptacle. The inner ends of the nipples are provided with openings 6 in communication with a longitudinal closed heat conduit 7 that is in the form of a tube and spaced above the bottom 3 of the receptacle.
8 denotes guides carried by the outer sides of the receptacle 1, intermediate the ends thereof, said guides extending from the bottom to the upper edges of said receptacles. Slidably mounted in the guides 8 are supports 9 that have the upper ends thereof provided with cross heads or holders 10 arranged longitudinally relatively to the receptacle. The supports 9, adjacent to the heads 10 are provided with outwardly extending pivot pins 11 upon which are pivotally mounted the upper ends of rods 12. The lower ends of the rods are pivotally mounted upon pins 13 carried by the ends of a yoke 15% that surrounds one end of the receptacle 1.
The yoke 14: is fulcrumed upon stud bolts or pins 15 carried by the outer sides of the receptacle 1, adjacent to one end thereof. The yoke 14: intermediate the ends thereof has an offset portion 16 provided with a handle 17 and this handle is adapted to be engaged by an angle keeper l8 pivotally mounted between apertured lugs 19 carried by the end of the receptacle. The angle keeper 18 retains the outer end of the yoke in a lowered position and the inner end of the yoke in an elevated posit-ion whereby the supports 9 will be elevated and the cross heads 10 raised to a point above the upper edges of the receptacle. By swinging the keeper 18 upwardly out of engagement with the handle 17 the supports 9 can be easily lowered.
Arranged within the receptacle 1 is a clothes holder 20 having the form of a clothes boiler, this holder being telescoped by the receptacle 1. The upper edges of the holder 20 at the ends thereof have handles 21, similar to the handles 2, and at the sides of said holder there are outwardly extending curved brackets or handles 22 adapted to be engaged by the cross heads 10 of the supports 9.
The bottom of the holder 20 is perforated, as at 23 and provided with an oblong opening 24. Arranged over the opening 24 and secured to the bottom of the holder is a semicylindrical perforated casing 25 that provides clearance for the heat conduit 7. The sides of the clot-hes holder 20 are provided with large openings 26 screened by vertical parallel equally spaced bars 27.
\Vith the clothes holder in a lowered position within the receptacle 1 clothes can be placed therein and safely boiled by the water within the receptacle 1, without any danger of the clothes being burned or scorched against the heated bottom 8 of the receptacle. Heat is uniformly distributed and conducted in the bottom of the receptacle 1, whereby the contents thereof can be expeditiously brought to a boil.
After the clothes have been boiled the handle 17 of the yoke 14 can be lowered and locked in a lowered position by the angle keeper 18. As the yoke 14 is shifted the supports 9 are raised and the clothes holder elevated to the position shown in Fig. at. Water can then drain from the holder back into the receptacle 1 and then the holder re moved from the cross heads 10 and the clothes carried to a point for further washing operations. I
The wash boiler inits entirety can be made of light and durable metal and of such sizes that it can be conveniently handled.
While in the drawing there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. A wash boiler comprising a receptacle having its bottom formed with a series of longitudinally alining openings, cone .perforated.
' holder and into which extends said conduit,
said holder further having its bottom pro vided with perforations.
2. In a wash boiler, a clothes holder comprising a body portion having each of its sides provided with large openings, vertically disposed spaced parallel barsarranged within said body portion and at each of said openings, said body portion having its bottom formed with a longitudinally extending oblong opening, anda semi-cylindrical perforated casing-securedto the upper face of said bottom and over said oblong opening, said bottom being further A wash boiler comprising a receptacle for a clothes holder, sald receptacle having its bottom provided with a plurality of longitudinally alining openings, coneshaped nipples secured to the upper. face of said bottom and arranged over said openings and a longitudinally cylindrical closed heat conduit secured to the topof and communicating with said nipples.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
