Application filed March 8,1913. Serial No. 253,019,
it may conccm town that. we, Ln VERGNE V.
ray B, MoonnHnAn, citizens of the States, residing at MeCoinb, in the U nited county i Hanco k State of Ohio, have inven ed certain new and useful Improve- .ments in Sealinm'lcol of which the lolbicb is ilP'lllHi- .anotherbbject'of the invention is to provide charec er which will possess advantages in points of fliciency and "durability, is inexpensive and at the same time is simple in construct-ion and operation.
With the sbcve and other objects in view,
A n c the mventicn consists in the novel ieatures; of ccnstrnction and the combination anderrangement or parts hereinafter more fully described, 'po1ntcd outin the claim, and shown in the accompanying drawings in which,
Fl device constructed in accordance with our invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view. Fig. 3 IS a vertical sectional viewof the sealing member, taken on the line 3-4; of Fig. 2. Fig. i is a top plan view of the sealing plate. Fig. 5 is a detail plan view of the sealing plate,
Referring more particularly to the draw ings, 1 indicates the elongated bodyniember of the device having formed in its outer end a substantially cone shaped heater 2 which is provided with a similarly shaped opening 3 in w 'hich is arranged the sealing wax 4. The -sealing wax is preferably in the form of 'a stick, as shown in the accompanying drawings and is supported an upr ght posit on by being disposed within the loop 5 cf the guide, member 6.
The handle member'9 is formed in two sections whic are securely bolted together by means of the bolt 10. Arranged within one of the sections of the handle is a suit: able electric switch 1l,'which is suitably conelectric sealing tube of the above re 1 isa side elevation of a sealing 13. The 1:2 are connected at one'end at their other 'ends with the heaterlQ, said heater .bein" formed. of any suitable material whereby the same may be readily heated. The switch 11 is operated through the medium-cf the push button-l4 mounted upon the resilient -portions 15 of the switch e handle to the exterior ther of.
lie same maybe readily oper by the thumb or -".By..pressing' the outer end of l Litton 14, membersare messed. inn-'ardly to l. the circuit whereby the heater readily heated to melt the wax, livot lly mounted. upon the outwardlyproiccting'lug 16 formed upon the outer side of the body member his a lever 17 one end of which is providedwith a smtable closure 746 7 Ante the end of the lever and isdisposed-beneath the lower end ofwtheheater'tc prevent-the me ted. wax from flowing out through'the lo er end of'the opening 3. fiI'ne, closure tion by means of the spring 19; which is disposed between the opposite end. of the lever and the body 1. It W'ill'be apparent that by pressure upon the end 20* of the withdrawn from vbeneath the-lower end of the body 2. so ,that the melted wax therein may readily flowfrom the opening 3.
under side thereof is a lug 21provided adapted to receive the threaded shank 24 It will also be apparent that by plate detachablv secured number with a difierent initial or the above description taken 1n connection have provided a simple and durable electric nccted to the circuit wires 12-, as shown at with a suitable circuit are connected and extending out through one plate 18 is securely held 1n its nqrmal'posi j Formed integral with the body 1 on the,
-with an internally threaded socket 22' ofthe sealin plate 25. It willbe apparent the same may be replaced 'by abe used, each of said plates name,,as desircd.- Itwill be apparent from with the accompanying drawings,' tliat we plate 18 which projects at right angles-to lever, the closure plate18 may be readily sealing tool whereby the sealing Wax may be quickly and readily melted and applied to the object and whereby a character may be impressed within the sealing wax after the same has been applied.
\Vhile We have shown and described the preferred form of our invention, it will be obvious that various changes in the details of constructionand in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying our invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claim.
\Vhat we claim is In a device of the character described, the combination of an elongated body having a hollow sectional handle member upon one end thereof, an electric heater formed upon the other end of the body and provided with a central opening to receive a stick of sealing material, a guide to support the sealingmaterial in an upright position, said guide comprising an upright havinga loop at its upper end to recelve the sealing material,
a switch member arranged within the handle, means for connecting sa d-switch with the heater and means for connecting the switch with the circuit whereby a our:
pressure upon the opposite end of the lever j and a spring member disposed between the lever and the body to hold said plate in its I normal position. y
V In testimony whereof we hereunto afiix our signatures in the presence of two'witnesses.
