UNITED STATES PATENT orrion.
WYATT F. PALMER, OF COMANCHE, OKLAHOMA.
COTTON-CLEANER.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, l/VYATT F. PALMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Comanche, in the county of Stephens and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cotton Cleaners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to cotton cleaning devices and has special reference to a device for removing the dust, sand and trash from ginned cotton.
The principal object of the invention is to improve and simplify the general construction of devices of this character.
Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and Figure .1 is a section through a lint flue constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail of a modified form of flue. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 83, Fig. l, on an enlarged scale.
The lint flue constructed in accordance with this invention is made up of a series of galvanized pipe sections 10 connected together after the manner of stove pipes by joints 11 and within these sections are spaced supporting rings 12 which serve to support a screen which is made of screen wire as indicated at 14 or of perforated metal as in dicated at 15 in Fig. 2. These sections are arranged beneath or to the back of the gins Specification of Letters Patent.

used in ginning the cotton, and a current of air is blown therethrough in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 1. Each section communicates with a gin by means of a flue 16 leading through the casing and opening into the interior of the cylindrical screen. It will be noted that this flue 16 is diagonally disposed so that material which is blown through the flue by an air current passing therethrough will sweep around the inside of the screen as indicated by the arrows in Fig. 8. The result of this is that the lint is caused to pass out of the flue in a spiral path and the centrifugal force developed throws all the dirt, sand and trash onto and through the screen so that it drops down into the bottom of the flue from whence itmay be removed through a suitable opening 1? closed by a tight fitting door 18.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is
In a cotton cleaner a cylindrical lint flue made in sections joined together after the manner of stove pipes, spaced supporting rings within said flue, the cylindrical screen supported on said rings and having its walls in spaced relation to said lint flue, a clean out opening in the lower side of said lint flue, a closure for said opening and a flue leading diagonally through said lint flue into said screen as described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
