CATAMENIAL DEVICE.
,Applieation filed March 15. 1909.
Specification of Letters Patent.
atented June 1'7. H3. Serial No. 488,356.
To all whom. it may concern: Be it known that I. Aniutrut l. Jomus. a citizen ot-the United States, and residing at New York. in the county of New York and State oi Xew York. have invented certain new and metal Improvements in (ata mcnialiDcviccs. ot which the ti'ollowin; is a specification. such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to catamcnial de vices; and the ohject thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which com prises in its entirety at waist belt or hand. a atamenial hag proper and means for cou net-ting the bag with the waist belt or hand. The inventi n i t'ullv disclosed in the following specification. of which the accompanying drawing forms apart. in which the separate parts of m v improvement are designated hv. uitable ret'erence characters in each of the views. and in \\ltit'll1* Figure 1 is a view showing the method of using my improved catamenial device. Fig.
2a perspective view of the device detached with part of the construction hrokeu awa v.
Fig. 3 a cross section on the line ir l ot Fig. 2.. Fig. 4 a bottom plan view of the rear end portion of the hag proper. and Fig. 5 a view of an absorption pail which is placed in the bait.
In the, practice of my invention. 1 provide a waistbelt. or band a composed of two parts a? and a as shown in Fig. 2, and one of the parts, the part a as shown in the drawing, is provided at its ends with tough tndinally arranged keepers a. to the ends-oi which are secured cords, tapes or similar devices w, andthe ends of the part (1 are passed through the keepers u and'provided with cords, tapes or similar devices a. v
The hag proper is shown at 71, and said hag: has a rear end portion .72 and a front end portion 1), and m the top thereof is a longitudinal opening If in which is placed an absorption pad 0 of any perferred material. The absorption pad 0 is provided at its rear end with laterally directed projections (P which fit in corresponding pockets at the rear end of the bag 7) and aid in holding the pad in position and prevent the lateral, forward or backward movement thereof. and also add'to the absorbent capacity of the. rear end portion of the bag. The material of said bag is provided with a rear end extension I) arid a front end extensirn and the rear end extension If is provided with \'cntilatin;1' perforations or openiliL'sr/ .1llltl the front end extension 7; is provided with lllllltll' perttn'ations or opening-s (F. The material of the has: is also pro-- vided with said laps /1 having transverse stars I). and connected with the front and rear end portions of the bag. or the extensions If and 1) thereof. are straps 6 having buckles and other straps f are Connected with the separate parts a and a" ofthe \\'{ll. i belt or hand a. and by means of these straps the catanieuial ha; proper is suspended t'rom said waist belt or band. The separate parts a and a of the said waist belt or hand are also-provided centrally thereof with keepers 1 through which, in pra tice. one ot the tapes or cords a is passed. and the said waist belt or band is secured in position as shown in Fi 1, by tying the said tapes or cords a at tne front and back. Thi construction of the waist belt or hand enables the dimensions therot' tohe increased or decrea ed as desired, and
5 hv ttlt;tti-. ot the straps w and f the hag, b
E may he raised or lowered as may he desired.
With this construction of hell it. is'also not nct'c sarv lo t'l't s, the end portions of the hell when securing the atne. and said belt tits nicrlv and smoothly around the waist and there are no t'olds or knots therein. vIt witlalso he sci-n that the keepers on one part; of the hell are met the hips when the device is in use and the tapes or cords are tied at the front and back and lie t'iatly along and over the separate parts of the belt. and n metallic fastening dev ices are employed for securing the belt. and the l ops g hold the tapes or cords a in place when said tapes or cords are tied.
The bag I) forms what is known as the protector, and it may he easily raised or lowered. or tightened or loosened whenever desired by meansof the straps e and f, and
said straps may be composed of elastic ma.
terial if desired, and thus'serure ease of movement without; undue pressure even when the bag or protector is securely held in place. The end extensions IF and I) of the bag or protector are triangular in form when in use and are provided with button holes- /I. and the tlltls ot the straps e are provided with buttons /1 or this arrangement; may he rmcrsed it desired. The end extensions 7i and I) of the hag are formed from the side flapsb of the bag which are extended for this purpose and that part of projeeth n adapted to nter and pockets. 'rai l hug lieing ale: lil'iflllfll at it trout and the rear end extemion in which the perforations (l are formed is preterahl} thiele ened or .stitl'ened so a.-; to prevent it 'trom contracting or wrinklin; when in use, and the front end ()Xttjllnlfli! 6'' in \Yllit'lt the perfOIation: 1/ are 'ttll'illt'tl is al o ])l'('t t'l'IllIl"\' thielt'ened or ntitt'ened tor a -ziu1ilar purpme and the po ition vhieh this part of the (leviee a$ un.e-; when in use is elearly indieatetl in Fig. 1, and tlze rear end portion of aid bag or the extenai n lf' thereof will he held in a similar p sition. hut the said rear end portion /f' if: larger er of greater length and tran. ;\'er. e dimemion. than the 'l'rent end portion 0". The pad "r the hody ortion thereol' 'i--, also provided with a eomparatively still horder, rih or head 1-" whit-h ex tends entirely around it, and whieh HHtfl to retain it in proper shape or form under all conditions.
