TURBINE-BUCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
llaten 1 ml June 3, 'l 913.
Application filed June 12, 1912. Serial No. 703,124.
To (1/! whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, CnAnLns \V. DARE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvementin Turbine Motor Buckets, of which the following is a specification.
' My invention relates to turbine motor buckets and means for attaching them in position.
It is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a cross section through the parts assembled on. the lines XX of Fig. 3;'Fig. 2 is a like view with the parts disassembled; Fig. 3 is a .plan view of the buckets in place with the cap ring removed as indicated by the line Z-Z of Fig. 1-; Fig. 4: is a detail of a single bucket; Fig. 5 is a section through a single bucket on the lines Y-Y of Fig. 3.
Like parts are indicated by the same integer in each of the figures.
1 is a bed plate which forms one side of the steam chamber in which the buckets are situated and serves as a support for the buckets.
2, 2 are the sides of the bucket, 3 is the bucket bottom, 4 a downwardly depending flange at one edge of the bucket bottom, 5 a similar flange inclined.
6 is an inclined slot in the bed plate to receive the flange 5 and 7 is a similar slot in the bed plate to receive the flange 4.
8 is a wedge block or ring.
9 is an upwardly projecting portion on one of the bucket sides adapted to be received through an aperture in the bucket on the plate 10 which forms the bucket tops. When the parts are assembled as indicated in Fig. 1, this projection is riveted here so that the parts are held together. In assembling the parts, each bucket is dropped into position with the two flanges of its bottom in their respective grooves. By forcing the wedge block or ring .8 into position, the parts are forced over as indicated in Fig. 1 so that each bucket is firmly held in position.
The use and operation of the device will be sufliciently understood from the foregoing. This application has only to do with the means for securing the parts together and the bucket in position.
I claim:
1. A turbine .motor bucket comprising two sides, one of them having a projection, a bottom with two flanges, one inclined, a ring-shaped top with a series of perforations to receive the projections, a bed plate with slots, one undercut, to receive the flanges, and a securing block in one slot to hold the inclined flange against the undercut portion of the slot.
2. A turbine motor bucket comprising two sides, a bottom with two flanges, one inclined, an extended top to cover and thus complete a series of buckets, means .for attaching the top tov the buckets and a bed plate on which the buckets are secured.
A turbine motor bucket comprising two sides, a bottom with two flanges, one inclined, an extended-top to cover and thus.
complete a series of buckets, means for at taching the top to the buckets, and a bed plate with slots, one undercut, to receive the flanges, and a securing block in one slot to hold'the inclined flange against the undercut portion of the slot.
4-. A turbine motor bucket comprising two sides, a bottom with two flanges, one inclined, an extended top to cover and thus complete a series of buckets, means for attaching the top to the buckets, and a'bed plate with extended slots, one undercut, to receive the flanges, and an extended securing block in one slot to hold the inclined flanges of a series of buckets against the undercut portion of the slot.
5. A fluid motor bucket comprising aflat bottom member, side members projecting upwardly from either side of said bottom mem ber and flanges projecting downwardly from either end of said bottom member.
6. A fluid motor bucket comprising a flat bottom member, side members projecting upwardly from either side of said bottom member, flanges projecting downwardly from either end of said bottom member, a cover for said bucket and means for attaching it to the upper portion of the side walls.
7 A fluid motor bucket comprising a flat bottom member, side members projecting upwardly from either side of said bottom member, flanges projecting downwardly from either end of said botttom member, a slotted bed plate and means for locking said flanges into said bed plate.
8. fluid motor bucket comprising a fiat wardly from either side of said bottom membottom member, side members projecting upwardl from either side of said bottom member, l anges projecting downwardly from either end of said bottom member, a cover for said bucket, means for attaching it to the upper portion of the side walls, a slotted bed plate and means for locking said flanges into said bed plate.
9.3; fluid motor bucket comprising a flat bottom'member, side members 'proj ecting upwardly. from either side of said bottom member, anges projecting downwardly -from eitherend of said bottom member, a slotted bed plate one of the slotsin which is under cut, one of said flanges being inclined, and
, meanafor locking said flanges into said slots.
10. A fluid motor bucket comprising a flat bottom, side members projecting upwardly from either side of said bottom member, flanges projecting downwardly from either-end of said bottom member, a cover for said bucket, means for attaching it to the upper portion of the side walls, a slotted bed plate one of the slots in which is undercut, one of said flanges being inclined and means for locking said flanges into said slots.
11. A fluid motor bucket comprising a fiat bottom member, side members projecting upber, flanges projecting downwardly from either end of said bottom member, a slotted bed plate one of the slots in which is undercut, one of said flanges being inclined, and means for locking said flanges into said slots, said inclined flange being located in the inclined slot and the locking means engaging the other flange and slot.
12. A fluid motor bucket comprising a flat bottom member, side members projecting upwardl from either side of said bottom member, flanges projecting downwardly from either end of said bottom member, a cover for said bucket, means for attaching it to the upper portion of the side walls, a slotted bed plate one of the slots in which is undercut, one of said flanges being inclined and means for locking said flanges into said slots, said inclined flange being located in'the inclined slot and the locking means engaging the other flange and slot.
Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 10th day of June 1912.
