This invention `relates to improvements in an apparatus forxmaking clear and pure ice rom raw water, and the present invention is directed especially to improvements in ending August 22, 1910, but is also applicable to other forms of ice making apparatus. f The principal object of the invention is to provide means for insulating the inlet and outlet lnozzles ,leading the water to and drawing it from the ice forming cans to prevent freezing of the water in the nozzls. vf.
Another object of the invention is toprovide means for vcausing an even ow 'of the brine around the ice forming cans from top to bottom thereof.
With the above and other objects in Vview the invention consists in certain combinationsand arrangements of theparts hereinafter described, and the novel features .thereof will be particularly4 pointed out in the. appended claims.

Each nipple 13, Fig. 2, has threaded therein a ball member'ladaptd to form a tight joint by contact with a member 17- having a semi-cylindrical socket .18. lThe 1socket member `17 -is provided with a ange 19 which is secured'by bolts or rivets 20 orl other suitable means to the bottom -of each ice forming can 21. l
In order to prevent the water passing the ball and socket members from lows isV provided'z--The ball members 16 are made hollow for their entlre length-and provided with insulation 2,1 preferably a aving an opening 22 therethrough. The extending end 12 of the pipell is provided with a T fitting 39A from which .projects a vertical pipe 40 carrying at its filter 41 having its top edge substantially in alinement with the upper forming cans to maintain /level inthe cans.
