To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES J. GRAHAM, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Jacksonville, in the county of Duval and State of Florida, have invented a new and Improved Sanitarv Closet, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in water closets, and particularly to closets arranged in an outhouse, and has for an object to provide an improved structure in which a vent pipe is provided and means for causing proper circulation of air. 7 I
A further object of the invention is to provide a closet with the usual seat struc ture connected with a housing in which is arranged a receptacle adapted to be inserted and removed through a door having a screened opening, the housing connected with the seat being also connected with a vent pipe whereby air may ,circulate through said screened opening and out through the vent pipe for maintaining the housing in a clean,- sanitary condition.
In carrying out the objects of the invention, an Outhouse of any kind may be used, in which is positioned a housing of any desired size.- Connected with the housing and forming preferably the upper surface thereof, is a closet seat. Extending through the closet seat is a vent pipe which communicates with the interior of the housing and which projects above the top of the outhouse so that air may freely pass from the locus ing to a point above the Outhouse. In order to cause a proper circulation of air the outhouse is provided with a door having a screened opening. The screened opening permits a free circulation of air at all times, and the door admits oi the insertion and re moval of a suitable receptacle normally positioned below the seat.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure l is a longitudinal vertical section through an outhouse and closet disclosing an. embodiment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a top plan-view of the closet, thevent pipe being shown in section; Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the structure shown in Fig. 2 and Specification of- Letters Patent.
