Be itlrnown that l, ,Mines BOWLING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident olusseilville, in the'count-y of'Logan und State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil- Burners, reference being had to the accompanying dravvii 45.
l pensive nature and 'of u/compact and dufable construction.
Qin
Another object is to provide a liquid. fuel burning stove which has a heet distributer which will insure the heat being evenly distributed, and which isdso constructed that the'ttachment can be placed Wit-hin the firel boi?` of an ordinary cooking orheating stove with ease. accuracy and despatch.
`With these and other objects in View, the-V gnesent invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts as' willbel hereinafter more fully described and inally f' pointed out in the appended claim, it being l further understood that-changes i the specie structure shown and describe may be made 4Withirrthe scope of t-heclaim,` without departing from the spirit of the invention.
ln the accompanying draw/ingsr" n 1'r'1ing-a,l part of this specllication' and 1n which like characters of ,reference indicateA similar parts vin the several views: Figure 1, shows a side elevational view of an ordinary cooking stove provided Wi'thvva liquid fuel burning attachment embodying my invention.
Fig. 2, shows a top View of the heat dis-' tributar. Fig. 3, shows a 'front view of .the heat distributer.l Fig. 4, shows a View on line 4f Il, Fig. 8. Fig. 5,"shows a detail disclosing the heat distributer Within the lire box or a suitable stove.
hi certain localities, liquid fuel can be bought( comparativelyv cheaper than coal or 'Wood and in my present invention I provide a liquid fuel burning outt including a hea. E a funi ply i with this die ln Fig. i, the I. desi is .o foo burning sto. of vcntional eonsiri'iction provided 'with quid fuel burner conk structed accordinA my invention.

clay., metal or other suitable heut re-y taining material. As shown this heet distributer is in the iorni oi' a three sided hoi;
'including the perforated "nach l, having an' imperforate central portion f2?, shown in Figs. 3 and 4; the perforate top 2. andthe imperorate front section section is of a Width approximately 4heli tbe-Width 'of the back l, and is held in parallel spaced relation to' said haelt. Extending from the rr back l and located at the lower 'corne-rs thereof, are the two bottoni brackets fl, which extend parallel with the top EZ5 and end in alinerhent with theforw'ard iaceoi' the- 'ront section 3. s'showii inv Fig. l, se
this heat kretainer is open at its endsand is of such a size as to lit-'into the hrelooxov e stoveV of conventional construction.,` `For each'diierentA size of arebox l' provide a. heat distributer, of proper eine. This heat. sa.
distributer is of such a size that there isy .a space between the back, und the front 3,
and the-hre box' of the stove, so that there' will be free circulation of heat between the distributer end the top, front and back of @il the fire box.. Through the grate of the stove and'eniptying against the imperforate back, vsection o, of the heat distributer,l is the nozzle 5, ofv asuitable burner 6, the openring of which is controlled by means of a 95 pinvalve 7, operated by means of the hand wheel 8. A cap 9, of conventional construc` tion' is usedi The burner is partly directed into the l'heat distributer as .is shown in Fig. 1.
reo In connectionwith the burner, l efploy a vtan'lr 10, containing` a suitable liquid fuel from which extends the oil supply pipe 11, having its 'lower end l2, perforated and ending near the bottom of the tank as shown in Fig. 1. This supply pipe l1 is threaded and leads into theburner 6. Extending from the breast or upper portion of the tank l0, is the air supply tube i3 which is also led into the burner :it ai point preferably in front of the bil supply pipe 1l as shown lin Fig'l. The oily pipe ll is provided with a i simple. located between controlling' valve 14, while the air supply the heat retainer and the fuel having been -placed within the tank, the pump 18 1s acturetainer, is, of course,
atedzso that'suiicient-pressure is obtained within the tank. The valves 15 and 14 are then ope'ned and the pin valve 7 is adjusted so as to permit the Aescape of a suit-able amount of fuel. A match is then applied to the burner to create a blaze.' The'blaze strikes against the imperforated back of the heat retainer and is deflected thereby. In view of the draft furnished through the air pressure and by virtue of the natural draft of the stove the products of combus- 4tion will escape through the perforations within the top and back as well as below the imperforate frontvv to be evenly distributed entirely throughout the lire box. -The heat also heated and thereby serves to uniformly hold the heat. The
arrows in Fig. 1, disclose the passage of the products of combustion. x
While I have shown butpne burner it is,
of course understood that the stove could be provided with a plurality of burners. So also while the tank is placed in front of the stove the same could be placed at any other convenient or suitable point. According to arrangement the heat is evenly distributed within the fire box so that the same will pass through the stove exactly as would be the case where a wood or coal fire is employed, with the exception that in connection with my liquid fuel burner the heat can be accurately controlled and is more evenly distributed.
Liquid fuel burners embodying my invention are made in different sizes. The device is simple and inexpensive in construction, both durable and etlicient in operation.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
A heat distributer of suitable heat retaining material as fire clay, comprising a three sided member including a perforated back having an imperforate central portion, a c
perforated top, an imperforate front section of half the widthof said back section and two bottom brackets extending from saidbacli parallel withsaid top, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I aiix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
