`Figure 2 is a transverse vertical section through line y y,`g. l; y
Figure 3 lis' a vertical section, in enlarged dimensions, of the valve under the bottom of' the oil-cup; and i Figure 4 is a horizontal sect-ion through line z z,
A represents the journal of a railroad car, on the upperside of which is the brass hearing B, provided, on its under or bearing side, with alongitndinal groove with two holes leading up through the upper side.
Ill this groove are inserted strips, a a, of felt, or other suitable material, for conducting the oil to the journal, the oil being fed tothe felt, hereinafter' to be described. l
Above the bearing B, in the journal-box, is inserted On the upper side of the wedge C are formed two recesses, with small pipes b in the center.
.'lhere is also a communicating hole or opening between the two recesses, through which is passed a wick, e, the body of the wick resting in the recesses, and its ends passed downward through the pipes b b, which are directly above the holes leading to thc felt (t in the bearing B.
0n top o the journal-box is secured the` Ol-cup D, provided, in its bottom, .with a small tube, d', which projects downward through a. hole in the journal-box, and into one of the recesses-on the wedge G. In the sides of this tube are two openings, with a valve, f, inside, above said openings, and set-screw c at the lower end. Y
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim' as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. The wedge C, provided with recesses, as described, and tubes b b, substantially as and for thc' purposes set forth. v
