Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFEGJE.
IltIYR'IFIIl'a KAHN AND ANTON OSSENB ECK, OF EIBERFELD, GERMANY, ASSIGNOBS TO FARBENFABRIKEN VORM. FRIEDR. BAYER 8c 00., OF ELIBEBFELD, GERMANY, A
CORPORATION OF GERMANY.
PROCESS OF DYEING.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Mrn'rn. KAIIN and Aaron OSSENBECK, doctors of philosophy, chemists, citizens of the German Empire, residing at Elberfeld, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Processes of Dyeing, of which the following is a specification.
R standing for the radical of a diazotized ortho-anisidin or an orthoanisole radical, and treating the dyed fiber with diazotized nitranilin. Pure red shades fast to washing which can be readily discharged are thus obtained.
In order to illustrate the new process more fully the following example is given, the
2 parts of calcined sodium carbonate and 40 parts of Glauber salt. 100 parts of cotton are entered into the bath which is then heated in such manner that it boils within half an hour and the boiling is continued for half an hour. The dyed goods are finally treated with a solution of2 parts of diazotized para-nitranilin, exposed to air and rinsed. A ure red fast to washing is thus obtained w ich can be dischar ed to a pure white with hydrosulfites. T e fiber can also be dpadded or printed with these dyestuffs an can then be combined on the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 24,1912. Serial No. 722,061.
Patented Apr. 29, 1913.
parts being by weight :-A dyebath is prepared from 1000 parts of water, 4 parts of the dyestufi' obtained by combination of one molecule of diazotized 4-chloro-2-anisidin with one molecule of the urea of Q-naphthylamiii-5-oxy-7-sulfonic acid having most probably the formula:
the process consisting of first treating the fabric with a solution of an azodve obtained from one molecule of a diazot-ized orthoanisidin compound and one molecule of the urea of Q-arnino-S-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid having the following general formula:
(R standing for an ortho-anisole radical) I and then passing the goods through a bath containin a diazotized nitranilin, substantiallyas described.
2. In the artof producing red shades fast to washing which can bereadily discharged, the recess consisting of-first treating the fabric with a solution of an az'odye obtained from one molecule of a diazotlzed orthoanisidin compound and one molecule of the urea of 2-11mino-B-naphthol-T-sulfonic acid and then passing the goods through a bath shade fast to washing which can be readily discharged, the process consisting of first stant-ially as described.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto containing a diazotized para-nitranilin, substantially as described.
3.
