DOUBLE DRAINAGE AND VENT FITTING.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 13, 1912.
Patented Apr. 22,1913.
Serial No. 703,421.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES S. C. ROCK, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Double Drainage and Vent Fitting, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to house systems of water distribution and its object is to provide a new and improved double drainage and vent fitting arranged to provide a plurality of waste connections and a double vent, at the same time permitting convenient turning of the fitting to extend the waste inlets into the desired direction for connec tion with the waste pipes of the fixtures.
In order to accomplish the desired result use is made of a T-shaped fitting, from which rise integral vent ducts opening at their lower ends into the fitting and leading at their upper ends into a single terminal for connection with a vent pipe.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure l is a side elevation of the double drainage and vent fitting, parts being broken out; and Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view of the same.
The double drainage and vent fitting illustrated in the drawings is in the form of a single casting having a central, unobstructed main chamber provided at the bottom with a depending outlet A, and provided at opposite sides with inlet-s B and B connected with the waste pipes of fixtures to be drained, and from the top of the T- shaped fitting rise vent ducts C, G termi nating at their upper ends in a hub D adapted to receive the lower end of a vent pipe. The vent ducts O and C are preferably separated by a partition, approximately of the same thickness as the walls of the ducts (see Fig. 2), and the aggregate inner diameters of the vent ducts C, 0 equal the inner diameter of the outlet A or that of either of the inlets B, B, each of the latter having a diameter corresponding to that of the inner diameter of the outlet A. The vent pipe connected with the hub D has approximately an inner diameter corresponding to that of the inner diameter of either of the vent ducts C, C, so that a proper venting takes place, that is, each inlet B, B is vented by way of the corresponding duct 0, 0 leading to a vent pipe.
By reference to Fig. 1, it will be noticed that the lower end of the partition separating the ducts C and G from each other terminates at the top middle port-ion of the fitting, so that in case either vent duct C or 0 becomes clogged the other provides the necessary ventilation. By reference to Fig. 1, it will also be noticed that the hub D and the outlet A are in axial alinement so that the fitting can be readily turned to extend the inlet-s B and B in the desired directions for making the connections with the drain pipes of the fixtures to be drained.
By making the fitting in the form of a single casting no extra joints are required to be made by the plumber, and consequently considerable expense in time and labor is saved.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A double drainage and vent fitting made of a single casting having a central unobstructed chamber, a single drainage outlet arranged at the bottom of the said chamber, drainage inlets opening into the side of the said chamber, and vent ducts rising integrally from the top of the said chamber and leading at their upper ends into a terminal for connection with a vent pipe.
2. A double drainage and vent fitting made of a single casting having a central unobstructed chamber, a single drainage outlet arranged at the bottom of the said chamber, drainage inlets opening into the sides of the said chamber, each drainage inlet having a diameter corresponding approximately to that of the said drainage outlet, and vent ducts rising integrally from the top of the said chamber and leading at their upper ends into a terminal for connection with a vent pipe, the aggregate diameter of the said vent ducts corresponding approximately to that of the drainage outlet.
3. A double drainage and vent fitting made of a single casting having a central unobstructed chamber, a single drainage out-- let arranged at the bottom of the said chamber, drainage inlets opening into the sides In testimony whereof I have signed my of the said chamber, and Vent ducts rising name to this specification in the presence of integrally from the top of the said chamber two subscribing witnesses.
and leading at their upper ends into a ter- CHARLES S. C. ROCK. minal for connection with a vent pipe, the Witnesses:
