METALLIC STRUCTURE FOR SODA-FOUNTAINS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 113.
Application filed August 24, 1911. Serial No. 645,809.
7 '0 all whom Z i may concern Be it known that I, F RANK T. Wrncnnnr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bellevue, in the county of Huron and State of Ohio, have invented-certain new and useful Improvements in Metallic Structures for Soda-Fountains, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in metallic structures for soda fountains, and similar or analogous structures, and is particularly designed and adapted for use in connection with that class er-type of soda fountain construction disclosed and claimed in Patent No. 972,137, issued October 4.
1910, to George-Vi. and-Henry A: \Vise for improvements in coolers and soda fountain construction.
The primary object of the invention is to entirely eliminate wood amaterial in .such structures, and to provide a generally in View, the invention consists in the novel improved metallic structure or frame-work for securing, supporting and reinforcing the marble wallsthereof, whereby a generally improved J structure of durability is provided. With the above-mentioned and other ends great strength and construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in some of its embodiments. in the accompanying drawings, and particularly po nted out in the appended claims. 7
Referring to the drawings, forming a part of this specification,Fi ure 1,is a perspective view of one form of the improved metallic structure, the container-counter and worlc boards being removed for the purpose of clearer illustration of the parts. Fig. 2. an enlarged vertical longitudinal sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1-, and showing the work-boards attached. Fig. 3, a cross sectional view, taken on line 3,3 of Fig. 'l.
' Fig. 4, an enlarged sectional view of one of the lower corner portions of the structure.
illustrating the mariner of attaching the marble walls .and adjustable supporting legs. Fig. 5, a perspective view of a modified form of the marble structure, the storage compartment shown in l, 2, and 3, being eliminated. Fig. 6, an enlarged cross sectional view, taken on line 66 of Fig. Fig. 7, asimilar view taken on line 7-i' of imilar numerals of reference designate ception of suitable insulating material as.
like parts throughout all the figures of the metallic structure. com
hereinafter described, szlld inner and outerrectangular casings comprising lateral or side and end walls 1, and respectively, said lateral or s de and end walls 2, of the outer rectangular casing being provided with inwardly extending flanges 2', at the bottom for receiving and. carrying the me- I tallicbottom wall 3, and being provided along their upper marginal edges with inwardly extending flanges 4, said upwardly extending flanges 4, at the top bridging over the space between the inner and outer lateral. walls 1 and 2,1 and .be'ingiprovided with a depending portion l'gextending,
along the upper marginal edges of inner. walls \1, of the ini' er lmmg jorlcasmgfand.
preferably restiing within the vertical of the same. r
A suitable heat in'sulatingmaterial 5, 'siieh' -as ground. cork, or cork or the like, is interposed between. the lateral walls 1' and :2, the lateral and bottom walls 2 and 3, 1
of the outer casing being preferably lined with insulating paper 6, as shown.
-\s a mean's'for "forming a containercounter receiving opening 7, atthe upper rear portion of the structure to receive the syrup container counter hereinafter described, as well as providing a convenient support for the same, a longitudinal supporting bar or ledge 8, is provided, said supporting bar or ledge 8, extending longn't-udinally' between the inwardly extending flanges l, and
system of refrigeration used.
parallel with the upper rearflange forming a convenientsupport or'seat for the. syrup container counter and 'allowing the cool air to communicatcfwith the interior of "the latter in accordance with the The work-boards 9, may be attached to the end walls 2. in any suitable and convenient manner, as illustrated in Fig. 2, of the drawings, or-if desired, the may form an integral. part of the structure as, illustrated in Figs-.5. 6. and], of the drawings.
The marble side and end walls 10, are adapted to'be secured-upon the lateral walls 2, of the outer casing by means of a plurality of screw bolts'll, extending through suitable openings therein, and through suitable openings in the lateral walls 2, said bolt-s being secured at their inner ends by means of nuts 12, the latter being preferably permanently secured upon the inner sides of the lateral walls 10, in any suitable and convenient manner, as for example by electric welding, brazing, or the like. The ad justable legs 13, are secured to the bottom walls 3, of the outer casing in a similar manner as shown in'Fig. 4.
In the form shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, of the drawings, the improved structure is dividedinto a cooler compartment 14, and a storage or ice-cream compartment .15, by means of a non-insulated partition 16, in the present instance-made up of an intermediate metallic piece or plate '16, and lateral walls-'1, of the inner or lining casing. Inthis form of the structure an opening or passage 17, is provided below the con- I tainer receiving opening 7, and at the rear of the coolefmmpartment '14, by means of a double'lwalledfinsulated partition 18, the
- latter partition terminating at its intersec tlon with the non-insulated cross partition 16, as'shown' most gclearlyin Fig. 1,-of the drawings, an inclined drip plate 19, extending above the open space, 17, and an air cir culatingI-passage120, beingformed intermediate the topj portion ofthe insulated park 7 hpporting' bar 8, as shown most clearly in "Fig. 3,,ofthe drawing. Itfviil'hbe; observed upon referring to Fig. 6, of the drawings that in the'form of structure illustrated in Figs. 5, 6, and 7, the container-counter recivingopening 7, or trough is provided with inner and outer spaced and insulated walls similar to the inner and outer rectangular walls or casings of the main structure hereinbefore described.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompaiiying Jdrawings. the operation and advantages of my invention will be'lteadily understood.
.ll'aving thus described some of the emho iliments of my invention. what I claim and desire to secureby Letters Patent is,
1. A metallic structure for soda fountains, -'.-oinprising a mainbody portion provided with arooling chambe and made up of in- 5 nor and outer metallic casings spaced from I each other, a supporting bar extend ng between the upper marginal edges of said inner casing and forming a container counter upper marginal edges of said wings and cooling compartment.
3. A metallic structure for soda fountains,
comprising inner and outer metallic casings spaced from each other forming a maincooling compartment and provided with late'rallyextending work boards, and'a supporting bar or ledge extending between the upper edges of said work boards and said cooling compartment forminga container counter receiving opening at the rear of said work boards and communicating with said main cooling compartment' v 4. 'A metallic structure for soda fountains. comprising a metallic casing consisting of a main cooling. compartment provided'with laterally extending Wings at its top, the lat- I ter being provided at their rear with a container counter receiving opening communicating with said main compartment, and a supporting bar or ledge extending flush with the upper marginal edges of said wings and'main coolingcompartment forming a support or seat for the syrup container counter. a
5. A. metallic structure for soda fountains,
yon-u rising a main cooling compartment provided with laterally extending wings havin; a container counter receiving passag a! the upper rear portions thereof com- .munu-ating with said main;cooling com-v partment, and work board members carried by said wings in front of said container counter receiving passage. I
In testimony whereof I have aliixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
