AMUSEMENT DEVICE.

To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, JAMES O. Coon, a

citizen of the United States of America, residing at Oceanpark, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Amusement Device, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to amusement devices, and it may be said to consist in the provision of the novel and improved features therein and in the novel and improved construction, arrangement and combination of parts thereof as will be apparent from the description and claims which follow hereinafter.

One object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device adapted to amuse and entertain by trying the skill of players who by means of hand struck mechanism endeavor to cause the proper movement of a slidable block to have the latter come to rest at a desired point on a rod.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a novel and improved device of the nature specied which is simple in construction, economical to manufacture, strong and durable, and well adapted to afford pleasure and enjoyment in use.

Other objects and the advantages of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art from a consideration of the followingr description of the preferred form of construction for the device, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the device; Fig. 2 is a partly broken and sectional view taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged partly broken and sectional view taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2 changed position of the slidable block and the springheld arm being indicated by dotted lines, and Fig. Al is an enlarged fragmentary view of a portion of the device.

On opposite sides of the base frame J are arranged suitable uprights I and II. Between the upper end portions of the uprights I and II-on a`substantially horizontal rod F having its end portions suitably axed to the uprightsfis slidably mounted a block G which may have thereon the pointer L and preferably has its center of gravity below the rod F to keep it in upright position on the rod. when the latter is actuated by the operating lever B connected therewith. As shown in the drawings, the arm E is connected to the upright- II by a retracting spring K, and has its upper end portion bifurcated to fit over the rod F. The lower end portion of the arm E is preferably aiiiXed on a cross bar C to which is attached the operating lever B adapted to turn the crossbar in its end bearings D when the enlarged free end A of the lever is struck a downward blow.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that in use the block G is first manually moved on the rod F to dispose it adjacent to the upper end portion of the arm E, whereupon the operator of the device strikes the lever B a blow such as in his judgment will cause the arm E to thrust the block with sufficient force to move the block to a desired point on the rod opposite to one of the marks M.

I claim:

1. An amusement device comprising a base frame, uprights'thereon, a substantially horizontal rod aiiiXed on the uprights, a bar having marks thereon arranged adjacent to the rod, a block slidably mounted on the rod, a pivotally mounted arm adapted to thrust the block along the rod, a lever operatively connected with the arm and adapted to actuate the arm when the lever is operated by the hand of a player, and a spring adapted to retract the arm.

2. An amusement device comprising a base frame, uprights thereon, a substantially horizontal rod aliXed near the top end of the uprights, a bar with marks thereon arranged adjacent to the rod, a block slidably mounted on the rod, said block having its center of gravity below said rod, a pivotally mounted arm adapted to thrust said block along the rod, a lever operatively connected wit-h the arm and adapted to actuate said arm when the lever is struck by a player, and a spring adapted to retract the arm.
