HERBERT EUGENE `SlilllIiIEZ, 0F SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI PHOTOGRAPHIC-IDEVELOPING TABLE.
`Specification of Letters Patent.
y y :Patented Api-...22, 1913i.;
Application aieaaprii as, 1912. 1 seriai No. 691,608.
To alla/)hom z' may concern Beit known that I,` HERBERT EUGENE SEELEY, `a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield,in the county of Greene 1and State of Missourhhave invented certain nevv` anduseful `Improvements in `Photographic-Developing Tables; and I do declare the follovvingto be a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention, such as` Will enable others skilled in the `art to which` it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in photographic developing itables for dark rooms.
The object of the :invention is to provide a table for use in developing which is `especially adapted for the convenience of finishers and `in connection iWith a developing tank for developingilms and plates. Y
` Another object is to provide a table of this character `Which Will kee the developer used at an even temperature y means of a lamp equipped With means 1for preventing any White light from emanating `from the lamp when in use, so that the film plates or papers being developed may beexamined by a ruby light at any time Without danger of fogging such as would :occurwereany White light` allowed to escape `from :thelamp or other W"th these and other` objects invievv the inventioniconsists in certain novel constructions, combinations andl arrangements of parts as Will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.`
Figure 1 is a perspective `view with parts broken out, of a developing table` constructed in accordance With this invention; Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the lamp casing and the adjacent parts of `thetable on which it is mounted. t
In the embodiment illustrated a table 1 is shown composed of `any "suitable material preferably of iron and comprising a plurality of legs 2 having `apertured feet 3 for securing them to `the `floor tohold the table rigid against jars such as Would cause the developing liquids to become spilled.
A top 4 is mounted at the upper ends of these legs 2 and is preferably inthe form of a sink t-Wo inches deep, moreor less, .on which a developing, tanklA `and a tray B are supported. This `sink-like table top is preferably formediby aniupyvardly project ingflange 5 Which extends around the edge of the table top as shovvn and Which prevents the Water` used developingfrom.`
slopping over the sides ofthe table onto the floor. this table top to a suitable receptable for ref ceiving the Waste liquids.
A Waste or drain pipe 6 extends from A shelf 7 is secured to the legs 2 below the` y top 4 at anydesired or suitable distance and is designed lto support a heating lamp S for retaining `the developer in the `tank A at an even temperature, and a hypo-bath or fixer box 9 for the plates.
The lamp 8 is housed in a casinglOito prevent any White light from emanating therefrom and spoiling the films or plates when beingexamined. This casing 10 `com-` prises tWo separable members in the form of a cylindrical base 11 adapted to fit over the lamp body and having an opening 12 in its top for the passage of the lampburner and a sleeve-like` member 13 designed to fit` over.`
the lamp chimney and rest at its lower edge on the base 11 with its other end closed.
The base11 ofthe casing 10 is provided with a plurality of apertures 10 here shownin the top thereof for admitting air to the lamp burner. A heating drum 14 is secured at its i upper end to the lower face of the table top 4f and surrounds the upper end of the sleeve..
13, said sleeve being slightly longer thanithe chimney of the lamp to which it is applied,
as is `shown clearly `in Fig. 2.` A skirt 15 depends `from the periphery of this drum andan annular horizontal partition 16 is disposed in said skirt below the drum bottom 111 at a point above the lower edge of` said skirt and the inner edge of said partli tion fits `around `the sleeve 13 and permits said sleeve to slide therethrough. The sleeve 1s also adapted to slide through an opening sleeve to be raised sufficiently to light the lamp. A plurality of apertures 17 are; formed at the upper end of the sleeve inthe sleeve 13 and the chamber formed by the` annular partition 1G and the lower Wall or` periphery thereof forming vents betweenthe `95 in the bottom 1li of the drum to permit the v(hapless of `thisr patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing thefcommissioner; lo! lateut;` if
and retaining the developing liquid "at the V proper temperature. i n
v I claim as my invention:
l. n The combination with a table havinga heater supported below the top thereof, of a casing I,enveloping ksaid i heater and `comprising a hollow base and a sleeve resting on theY base, `-a drum depending from said table top and having an opening in its -lower end encirclingl the upper end of said sleeve, said sleeve being slidable in said opening and said drum having heat discharge Openings in' its upper end.
2. The combination with a table having a heater supported below Ithe top thereof, of a casing enveloping said heater and lcomprising a hollow .base having an opening in its top and a sleeve arranged over said opening, said sleeve being open at one end and closed at the other with its open end resting on said baser'said sleeveyhavinga plurality'y of heat closed f end, a drum `depending from said sleeve beingslidable therein withthe apertured portion. ofthe sleeve normally arranged between said partitions, the inner partition of lsaid drum having apertures s thereinl for admitting the heated Iair'to the body of the drum, and said drum Ahaving peripheral openings in they end adjacent the table top.
In testimony whereof I have', hereuntoset i my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- IlGSSeS.
HERBERT EUGENE sEELE-Y.
